hey ppl, first off to those who created and maintain this whole community i thank you, having been a xbox liver from day dot i was always concerned that modding would ban me but now that a free original xbox swung my way i have the freedom to indulge and leave my 360 in safe unmodded condition..
ive spent the last week reading through the HQ affiliated sites and finally took the plunge and ran the sid 5.01 installer last night on my version 1.4 xbox with great success. my next step is the Aid 4.10 and 4.13 add on ISO but having read all that i can and seeing problems that ppl make i have the fear of death in me about stuffing up
so here is my question which i will try to make simple...
when i use the ISO updater to make an AID ISO installer DVD disk on an xbox which is softmodded from SID 5.01 with no other mods on it do i add the 4.10 ISO then the 4.13 update pack then the 4.13 update pack emulators
i watched the video that shows how to with 4.01 to 4.02 but the extra rar for the emulators through me off.. i no i dont need the 4.13 lite because im going for a full install on DVD format but just not sure about the 4.13 emulators update ...
i hope i made sense im just trying to be 100% clear on it prior so i dont come running back with a bigger badder thread when i stuff it up ..

Welcome to the xbox-HQ man, we hope you enjoy the site.
Just take the aid 4.10 iso and add the aid 4.13 update then add the addons and then the emus.
Thats the way i did it.
If you want you can just unpack the iso and addon packs and hand install them over FTP.

thanks for your help wes i got the softmod on no problems it was actually quite easy in the end, im onto another problem now,
i bought a compatible 160gb seagate harddrive for it and am trying to use the xboxhdm program which i thought i did properly but once all was done and the new hard drive was connected it would not recognise th dvd drive..??
at this point i am assuming that it is because when i was ftp'ing the c and e backups over to linux folders of xboxhdm i had an interuption and thought that i resumed without causing a prob but maybe it lead to the creation of a bad boot disk...
any thoughts wes/anyone?
also is there a place or list i can go and look at for minimum files so that i can create a real skeleton boot disk for xboxhdm... a blank canvas so to speak, perhaps something i can fit on a cd for the boot disk because ATM it takes a very long time to ftp the e drive over with all the XBMC files and stuff and i dont want to just go deleting stuff to try and thin it out you know what i mean.. thanks ahead for any thoughts..
PS. the worst part about it was that after i created the new hard drive i got dirty disc errors and thought it was just a dvd problem (which i have had a dodgy one from the start that required lens cleaning and stuff) so i tried the pot tweak on the thompson laser and now the drive dont work at all(b4 it played movie dvd's no worries) but i borrowed a friends DVD drive and it got dirty disc errors too! so i put back the standard 10gb hard drive with softmod already on and i get no prblems at all....
im dirty i dont even care about the stupid drive all i want is a softmodded xbox with 160gb hard drive grrr this whloe media center project is starting to stress me

When I did my hdd upgrade I kept having issues tryin to put my E drive on the new hdd. So I just created a Factory hdd with the orginal C drive that is backed up on the xbox when you did the soft mod. I think it was in E:/backup. I just used those files when Creatin a C drive on Xboxhdm. I left E, and F empty. MAKE SURE TO USE CORRECT KEY so when you lock it your xbox will be usin teh right key to open it.
Once I got my new drive at factory settings I just used the SID to mod it again. After that I could FTP any files or folders that I wanted on the new HDD.
Im sure you can make a xboxhdm disk with softmodded settings but I kept havin issues so went teh long way around.
There is CHIMP i think that will allow to to make clones of your drive.
GtG hope it helps some.

ren3gade has the right idea man, get chimp, it can be found on the aid disk and copy the stock hdd to the new hdd.
I wold stick with xboxhdm if the xbox is a ver.1.6
