I used to have SF2 on my Mega Drive, many many years ago! I loved it. One of the first games I owned. Even had the 6 button pad to go with it, for extra umph!
Anyway, as for SF4. Rumours are ripe, but nothing concrete yet.
1up.com reports:
"For as many renditions of the Street Fighter series that Capcom has released, it's surprisingly they've never made it past the overall number three in their naming scheme. Outside of nostalgic compilations, the Street Fighter series has certainly died down in recent years, but rumors are saying that's about to come to a halt.
Arcade aficionados (especially fighter and shooter fans) have come to watching the annual AM show in Japan as a showcase for the latest and greatest arcade titles. And if current rumors are to be believed, Street Fighter 4 -- said to be the series' next bold step into the third dimension -- and Virtua Fighter 5 -- running on Sega's all-new LindBergh board -- will both show their faces."
Guess we'll have to keep our eyes peeled, see if anything develops. Seems to be a big resurrection of old games lately.
------ on my knees hoping praying a true next gen version with a silly amount of characters with all characters ever -----

I would love to see an SF4. SF was always the ultimate fighting game for me.

Indeed, as far back as can remember, that was the first beat em up I ever had on my Sega Mega Drive.
Ahhhh, so many hours learning every move for every character, doing those endurance battles, proving to my friends that they were nothing compared to my killer moves!!

All 3 good games but tekken had more of a counter attack set up and SF felt more like a button masher to me.
Dont get me wrong, i still fire it up from time to time.

Never really got into Tekken until Tekken 3.
Held off getting a PS for a long long time. Had my Mega Drive for absolutely years and then did a lot of gaming on the PC.
It was really only after playing the demo of FFVII on the PC that made me get a PS. Tekken 3 came with it. Good game though, and then when 4 came out for PS2 I got that one too.
Although not my best/favourite genre, I've had, owned and played loads of fighting games over the years, but it all stemmed from Street Fighter.

Yeah man for sure S.F. got the ball rolling but thay never really add to it.
More characters get added and stages but thay never really add to the moves list, unless you count the hyper fighting and the specials thay added to the alpha.
