A number of years ago a friend of mine installed a Softmod on my XBox. I recently got a widescreen tv, and wanted to switch the Xbox to output to widescreen. I have the UnleashX dashboard. Changing it to widescreen there doesn't seem to be doing the trick. I've read I need to run the Microsoft dashboard to change this. My friend included an option to run this. It required msdash.xbe. There wasn't a file named that, so I took a copy of xboxdash.xbe from the MS backup directory and renamed it. When I tried to load it from the option in UnleashX, or from within the file explorer, the XBox loading screen came up, and then nothing happened. When I tried running the file from XBox Media Centre, a blank screen came up and nothing happened. Is there a way to get this working? Or do I have to reinstall the Microsoft dash from the open tray menu? If I did reinstall the MS dash, would I need to get a memory card (already have an old copy of Splinter Cell) and follow the softmodding process to restore the softmod? Thanks.

Try changeing to wide screen in xbmc.

You might need the hd video cables to do wide screen.
Thats what i use on my big screen tv and i cant seem to change it on my bedroom tv .

If you have a duel boot then you can start the ms dash up. With newer softmods at least you can't start the ms dash up from the modded dash. It will only boot up with a duel boot. _________________

I have a Mad Catz HD kit. The XBox is currently outputting to the TV in narrow screen across component cables.

I just set my xbmc to 1080i since its the one dash i use and set it for wide screen and she worked.
If your running a softmod and want to get back to the ms dash you can slap in aid and install a new ms dash.
As long as your running unleash dash there is an evox.xbe in your c drive, so if you istall a new msdash it will all run the same and you can boot msdash.
