I know but noone outright stated that its the HD and I figured I stick whats happened to me in with my advice. They almost always go out within 1-2 months after that sound starts but sometimes they never do. _________________

Without ghost or a matching hd size (smallest I could find in area was a 300gb) I tried to proceed. I used HDclone, putting the old and new hd's as master/slave of the second IDE chain in my PC, and was successful in copying the C and E partitions, so I got the game saves and my linux. But I'm missing the F drive (182gb) with my game backups, emus, and programs. The partition shows used space, but the xbmc file manager shows no directory structure.
I put the hd's back into the PC and ran fatx explorer, which didn't show the hd's. Then I tried HDD_driver which fails to load for a mfc? problem. I don't know where to go next. How to I get the files on old F drive onto the new F?
Could I put both HD's in the xbox and use the XBMC filemanager to copy? _________________ Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

I'm pretty sure xboxhdm is able to put your old F:\drive on the new one. Also if its softmodded you could just go to the menu where you mod it from and format the F:drive from there since the new HDD is working, and then pop the old HD in and transfer all the files from its F: Drive and then you can put em on the new one _________________

I've put the old hd as primary master and the new one as primary slave. I couldn't figure out how to navigate to the new hd with xbox explorer, so I restarted and went into xbox hd then chose clone. It gave me a message "Grab a beer, this could take a while" then a solid cursor on the next line. But there is no indication of activity (other than I feel the drives spinning). Should I be seeing something? How long do you expect a 200GB hd to clone? _________________ Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum

I'm running out of ideas. I ran xboxhd and the clone function locked up. I switched positions of the target and source. It locked up again. I tried xbrowser, but only saw the cd and original hd on primary master. I couldn't find the primary slave to copy the F drive contents. Does anyone have any other ideas? _________________ Si Vis Pacem Para Bellum
