When Wes is right he is really right I put a X3 solderless chip set in my xbox and put in a 500gb hard drive to take care of anything I would ever want or need to do with my xbox.

Well I have a few 20+ gig drives kicking around. I didn't want to spend any $$$ to get it working again. do you have to chip it to get the drive to work?

WEll heck! I don't have any games or even consolers. I just wanted to see if I can get this guy back up and running. Don't even know If I would use it or not. Would be a cool network storage device though.
Do I have to mod the box even if I got the same size/model drive that it came with? How do they put new drives in to replace bad ones?
(I can build computers and stuff, I'm a system admin by day so I do have a clue on hardware and networking)

If you could get the old one working you could softmod it with SID5 and get the eeprom off of it and then put a bigger hard drive in that way.

Around 25 bucks give or take a few.
Get what you pay for so i go with the Xecuter 2 or 3 but thats just me.
