ok so a while back ago a friend broke my xbox Motherboard and i just got a new one. The problem is i had a 160gig HD locked into that mother board and i never got the eprom info on it. what i was wondering is there anyway of unlocking my HD without having to delete everything?
P.S if it helps i have a SMartxx V3 chip installed in my new Motherboard please help Thanks

those wont work unless his hdd, was locked with config magic, or something that used similar m,ethods, but i do believe the smartxxx v3 also keeps a backup of the eeprom so you sould be able to retrieve it. there should be a tutorial on the smartxxx website. also once you retrieve the eeprom, use xbhdm 1.9 to unlock it. you dont want to flash the old eeprom to the xbox, as it will damage the system. _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com

Unfortunatly the smartxx v3 chip that had the backup is broken also and i have a new one, i went into the smartxx main screen and under hdd it asked if i would like to format the drive..im guessing deleting it. should i do it and if i do would that unlock it?

formatting the hdd will not unlock it. have you tried to boot the old chip. if not give it a try. if you can get it to boot to the os menu for smartxx. then i can show you how to get teh eeprom to unlock the hdd, via web interface. _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com

You can get a program called HDD unlock for $5, it unlocks the HDD if you dont have the eeprom. It will delete everything on the HDD but it will be unlocked. _________________

problem solved. we unlocked it using the dos unlock utilitys on xbhdm 1.9. and using a hex pass he had writen down a while back. _________________ Please post all PC Questions at PC-HQ.com
