I am looking for the best 500GB hard drive for my xbox for the best price. I have found many for around $100 and looked them up on an xbox hard drive list, but they seem to have up and down reviews.
What is the best around this size for the money?
Thanks!

I was looking at a seagate 500 gig for like 95 bucks as for whos the best i wold say the one that last a long time
thay are all hit and miss like cars sometimes you get a lambo and it blows up in a week sometimes you get a pento and it runs longer then its owner.
from what i can tell most folks say western digatel is best.
If they all pretty much work with the xbox then I will just go with this one. If it were for my computer I would get this one .
Going to be ordering later this week so might find a better deal who knows.
Thanks!

What difference does it make that it is not "lockable". I am canceling my xbox live if that is the only thing.

your drive has to be lockable or you wont be able to boot up your hard drive unless you have a chip. there is a website that says weather or not hard drives are lockable stickied around here somewhere, you just have to look.

Click the "HardDrives" tab at the top of the screen to see the hdd list. Personally I have allways used Western Digital or Maxor drives. _________________

I have an X3 chip and loving it. Dumping all my games to an external hard drive right now and would like to keep them on the xbox hard drive -500GB should help that .
Thanks for the help!

The size is really up to you. If you feel 500Gb is what you want, then pop it in. For me, 500Gb is far too large to justify going in my Xbox, so I stick to my 160Gb. If I had a 500Gb HDD, it would be in my PC where I could make better use of it.
Either way, like BG said, Western Digital and Maxtor/Seagate drives are really good and most are lockable. I would choose one of those if you're going to get one.

Chips? I thought we were talking harddrives here? If we're talking about chips, I take fish with mine. _________________

lol, fork and spoon?! Wouldn't it be easier to cut with a knife?!
Anyway, as for the drives, its really up to you. As with everything in life, you get what you pay for. Just weigh up what exactly you're going to use it for, work out how much space you'll need, then invest in something thats going to last.
Chip, softmod, at the end of the day, neither will make an impact on your choice. Let us know how it goes.
