Hi all,
This is my first post so bear with it. Currently have an XBOX
V1.3 (I think)
120Gb Western Digital
ALX2+ modchip
Excuse my ignorance, but what sort of BIOS does this modchip take. I think it's a cheapmod based but not sure.
It boots ok to GreenX logo, and RedX logo (readonly BIOS). What I want to do is find out what sort of BIOS it needs and how to load it up for the 'Blue X' boot - flashable area. I am knowledgeable to the point of being able to edit .ini files, ftp-ing and other IT Stuff (I actually program .NET for a job). But there are so many conflicting ideas on the 'net regarding the XBOX, I wanted to clarify properly
Hard drive is locked via ConfigMagic. I have downloaded the new 3935 Evo-x but haven't loaded into the XBOX yet.
Much appreciated and nice meeting y'all.

Ok.. Basically all modchips really can use the same bioses.. (well most)..
What we really need to find out for you is the specs on the ALX2+ modchip you have installed..!
Ill do some hunting around now to see what size bios it uses.. Im sure it will be a 256k..
Anyway, what you will want to do is start downloading some bioses.. Then use a program like Windows Commander FTP to split the bios file into the correct size needed for your modchip.. (hope im making this simple)..
What else do you want me to look at on it? I have previously ftp'd to the xbox by mapping drives a la ftp://xbox:xbox style, have also used flashFXP, is this what you refer to in your reply?
If not, would appreciate a quick heads-up on splitting the files as you describe in your previous post
PS Given this info, what BIOS do you recommend??
Thanks much

ok..
I would suggest the latest bios which i have just uploaded to the VIP
It supports a HARD DRIVE of up to 160gb i think from memory..
Ill link you now to a tutorial on how to split your bios into the correct size..
(i dont do it this way, so i will write and upload a tutorial soon for doing it with total commander (windows commander) )
We need to know what points on your modchip to make a bridge or if it has a switch what postition it has to be in to be flashed.. (ill look at that link and sees

Hi mate,
I suggest downloading the latest 'XBOX HQ BIOS CD PACK" which DJB created for all you new guys. It has the latest 'M8 Bios' in it which i suggest all users should be trying to use..
M8 Bios is available by itslef in our downloads section but does not support larger hdd's then 137gb..
So get the XBOXHQ Bios CD and it will have th M8 Bios with LARGE HDD ASUPPORT..
