Posted: Fri Jun 29, 2007 6:01 pm Post subject: Help with restoring the original Microsoft Dashboard to Xbox
Okay I deleated the Microsoft Dashboard from my C Drive and thought all was lost. I recently found out that you could restore it by FTPing it back onto your Hard Disk Drive from your PC. I have it downloaded (thanks TheRealHypnotiX I found it in your signature) the only problem is when I try to FTP with FlashFXP it doesn't seem to work. It starts to copy it over and when it reaches 1.07 MB the transfer speed drops to 0.0 kb/s. There is a list that shows if you were successful in copying over your files and it has red X's next to all the folders. The other files have green Checks but they still don't copy over. I'm pretty sure I'm doing it right because just yesterday I FTPed Halo 2 maps onto my PC to mod and then back onto my Xbox and it worked fine. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I would burn Auto Installer Deluxe to a DVD and then install the Microsoft Dashboard from it but I don't have a working CD Burner right now.

The only two htings I can think of are that the file names are too long or your hdd is full. _________________

I was thinking that my Hard Disk Drive might be full but I tried it before I had Halo 2 saved on it and I had about 3 GB left and it still didn't work. The file names don't seem to be to long either. Thanks though. Are there alternative ways of getting files on your Xbox?

i have the same problems with certain things also some will transfer and some wont. you just have to play around with them. they seem to work after that lol, i dont know why.

you can purchase an AID disc off the forum if you need it. is your pc using a wireless connection by any chance

I kept trying to mess around with it like FTPing it to other drives, but it still won't work. Someone mentions a USB Flash Drive but is there even a USB Port on an Xbox (sorry if there is like right there and i'm not noticing it because i'm a complete idiot lol). Thanks in advance.
P.S. And no im not using a wireless connection it's wired right into the Xbox using an Ethernet Cable lol.

the controler ports on a xbox are usb ports, how you use them off the top of my head i do not know.

Well thanks anyways guys it looks like i'll just have to wait until Monday when my Dad can help me burn a CD with Auto Installer Deluxe 4.02 on it(I don't have a CD Burner in my PC and never learned). try using a different program to ftp like craxtion 4.0.Thatsa what i use and i have had no problems ftping.You can find it here www.allxboxskins.com

Well I tried Craxtion 4.0 and it didn't work (although I'm going to use it as my FTP Program now because it is Xbox friendly becasue that is what it was made for). Anyway, Im planning on burning a CD or DVD for Auto Installer Deluxe 4.0, but I don't know which one to use. I've seen things on the internet for DVD's like you have to make an xiso and rename the executable default.xbe. Does this only apply to DVD's becasue in the Auto Installer Deluxe 4.0 manual it didn't say anything about it it was just like "now burn your CD or DVD." I have a CD and a DVD burner so which one do you think will be easier to do? use AID ISO updater software to update AID 4.01 to 4.02 (software in 4.01 download
i made this guide for this block over at team-xecuter it to run XBMC as dash but if you wish to use other dash you just add the ADDONS that dash your installing and the update (4.02 update file)
