Chips really aren't that hard to install if you make sure you do your reading first. If you go the full-solder route and have never soldered before, I recommend taking apart an old radio or something, reading a few soldering guides (you can find them all over the place--try searching "Xbox +soldering guide" on Google), then practicing on whatever old electronic device it was you took apart before you take a hot iron to your XBox. Believe me, it helps to have a bit of confidence before you dive in, but really, it's not all that difficult.
Just one bit of advice that might help you if you get a chip...every so often, you'll come across an install guide that recommends using the d0 point on top of the board--DON'T. It's tiny, and if you don't scrape off the enamel first, next to impossible to solder a wire to without burning the board (that's how I fried my first XBox.) Take the extra few minutes required to pull the motherboard out of your case and find the d0 point on the underside. It's much, much easier to solder a wire to.

If you have no soldering experice, I recomend going the solderless route. It may cost abit more, but soldering really isnt as easy as it looks. Its so much easier to go the safe way and not mss up your box. _________________

What ever you do, DONT get the HyperX, its junk!!!!
Also, soldering is easy after u learn what to do, just takes some extra patience is all!!! I'd solder mine in, just seems more secure that way to me. _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

well the chip i want know is the xenium gold. i saw a video on how fast and easy it is to install it. im thinking of getting the solderless. anyways my dad is really good with soldering. for his job he had to solder chips and things all the time. plus the chip looks easy enough to handle.
now off topic of soldering and mods and things like that. have any of u guys seen the movie transformers? it is a super cool movie and is hilarious too. if u have not seen it u should hit the road to the theater and go see it. i can pretty much promise that u will like it.
p.s. i think there is a hot chick in movie, but thats my opinion. lol.
