Okay, after my long issue with a crappy CPU installation on M$ end, my XBox is now working. I've got an extra stock drive working in it, perfectly softmodded with UnleashX, EvolutionX available as an app for backup and everything's running great. I've decided to go ahead and upgrade the HDD from the 10gig stock to an extra 180gig from my father's old computer. I've done this way too many times, so when issues started popping up I redid everything multiple times...
I'm using the latest xboxhd cd toolkit to take care of everything - got a custom burn with the bare basics for this unit (got everything by ftp'ing to the original drive). Went through and prepared the drive, copied the backup onto it, manually compared the drives to make sure nothing was left out, and finally locked the drive through the eempron (sp?) from EvoX. It looked perfect, 'till I popped him into the xbox - the infamous "send her in" message in multiple languages, w/o an error code.
At first I thought the eempron (sp?) EvoX got was corrupt or got corrupt while burning, so I plugged the stock drive into my computer and attempted to unlock it w/o typing the key in - it was successful. Locked it and plugged it into my xbox - worked perfectly. Went to the new drive and completed the same steps - no problems unlocking and locking, yet won't boot.
I began to think that the new drive failed to load everything correctly, so now I'm cloning the stock drive directly onto it (had to do this once before). And while I'm waiting here, probably for a few more hours, I'm wondering if I perhaps did this incorrectly for a softmod - I've followed these steps multiple times for the hard modded and the tsop flashed units I've done for my friends...

You are doing it correctly. Ive had this problem in the past actually. I never figured out what the problem was, cause i ended up getting a modchip so i used AID to prepare the new HDD. So, myself would LOVE ot know the answer to this one as well!!!! _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

Hmmm.... I never got this message before. Out of all the hdds I've done with xbhdm 1.9, The only one I had a hard time with was the first one. But that was while I was creating the hdd. Once I got it all created, I was able to pop it in and use it right away, error free. _________________
Sorry about the long delay - spent forever working on it.
The issue actually arived from the files being copied to the new drive - I couldn't fit everything on the CD, so I skipped a tiny bit. You need to have every little file from the original drive in the C and E folders for it to work - you can't miss anything, even the cache folder.
I've prepared a basic backup of this system on a bootable DVD so I won't suffer for hours if/when the drive fails or M$ nukes the drive.
Also, it seems I accidently did a permi-softmod. There isn't a MS Dash on this system anymore (selecting MSDash from EvoX or powering on by the eject button causes UnleashX to load), so it looks like I won't being playing XBoxLive, but that's not much of a loss.

You really dont need everything, as long as all the folders on your e partition are there you'll be fine. When I did my first hdd, I had 2 softmodded xboxes. So I just made all the folders that were on my e, coppied everything to my other xbox using unleash x's built in ftp browser, and hen the hdd was done, coppied all the files back. Otherwise everything wouldnt have fit. _________________
