Hmmm, i am starting to understand how the softmod installation works, but i just have one question. To install the softmod, could i possibly connect my XBOX's hard drive to my computer, and access it through Windows or Linux to copy files to it? Or is the XBOX's HDD format unreadable by either of the two operating systems?
Please don't flame me as i am just asking a question nowhere else would answer.
Thanks

P.S. The reason i am seeking the answer to this, is because i am a very impatient guy right now, i just want to get this all done before i have too many other things to do. Thanks! ^ ^
EDIT:
I just read this(Link below! ^ ^)
Quote:
1. What is hotswapping?
A retail Xbox hard drive (HD) is normally locked. Whenever the Xbox boots up, it must unlock the drive with the HD password in order to use it. It will stay unlocked as long as the power is on.
If we want to access the hard drive on a PC, then we need to unlock it somehow first. If you have the HD password, then you can disable the password with either Xbox software (e.g. EvoX, ConfigMagic), or PC software (e.g. UnLockX, hdunlock/hddisabl). However, if you don't have the HD password and can't get it, then you need to hotswap it.
The term hotswap refers to "swapping" the IDE cable from the Xbox with an IDE cable on your PC, while the Xbox is "hot" (power is on) and the HD has been unlocked.

Trust me when I say that hotswaping isnt something you want to do if you dont have to. Just get or make an action replay and trandsfer the gamesave to your hdd. Its soooo easy man. I dont understand why you would ant to make things hard on yourself. _________________

Which part don't you want me to do this because of?
The difficulty, or the Risk, or the time it takes?
I have all the files, i think when i try it it would be fine, my brother (who is in college) did the same thing, he is not here, but said it was easy by the skill i have at mechanics and things alike.

I'm just saying its a hell of alot easier to just use the gamesave exploit. If you wanna go the hard route nothing stopping you _________________

You can hotswap it but if your a first time modder i wouldn't do it. 120 times more safe just to pay the money and do it right the first time. _________________

Yup
Just saying it sounds like he's not doing it because he doesn't have the game/action replay to do it. _________________

I would have got action replay, because it also has some good saves for games on the internet. _________________

For myself, i do, because this is an accomplishment to me, im not usually going to do somthing like this to a system i have had for 5 days of my life. Very hard to understand, i did this, so whatever i do, i feel prowd of myself for.
It's not that hard to FTP a save to the hard drive.[/b]
