You have a Cromwell Bios on the Chip. You have to 1st creat a BIOS CD and flash it with a 256kb BIOS (Xecuter2 or Evox M7/M.
To make a BIOS CD: (from http://www.xbins.org)
Step 1: Make a copy of the bios file you wish to use and rename this copy to BIOS.BIN (should be 256kb big)
Step 2: Burn the BIOS.BIN file onto a CD.
(For Nero select the following settings, No Multisession, ISO Level 1, Format Mode 1, ISO 9660, Deselect Joliet, Finalize CD, Disc-At-Once/96)
(You should add a dummy file to the disk, just any file at least 100mb big.)
Step 3: Turn your XBox console ON, when the DVD-Rom tray ejects please insert your BIOS.BIN CD and close the tray. During the flashing process the power LED will stay solid RED.
- When the flashing procedure is complete the XBox should shut down, if it does not do not turn off the console until the power LED is solid Orange.
- If your modchip is writeprotected or the programming fails you will be informed by error messages on screen as well as the power LED flashing Red and Green (FRAG).

I had the same problem. This is how I solved it. Your bios is a linux bios, and to flash it with a better one (like the xecutor2 4983 which can handle my 250 GB HD), you need to use this linux flashing software: "OzXFlash v1.2". It can be found here:
You will burn this iso onto a cdrw, and also burn the bios you want onto another seperate cdrw, renaming the bios file to "bios.bin". Insert the Ozxflash cd. It will start a linux penguin program thingy which will flash your bios. At the prompt when the dvd tray opens, insert the bios cd. Follow all directions on the screen. Its all automatic after this point. All you'll need to do is remove the bios cd when it tells you to and you're all done.
