Hey den, sorry to hear you are having problems.

My guess is, if you used a soldering method then you have soldering issues.

Check for solder splash, bridges, or even areas where there are gaps between the pinheader and LPC holes.

If you need, I have a 1.0 version motherboard tha already has the D0 wire and Pinheader already attached. The price is 84.95....

This should be a last resort idea though, as I believe your motherboard is most likely fixable.

If need be, I do repair work and can get your chip working for you. I don't know if you are in the US or not though.

Since you already have your parts, if you were to send to me I could probably get it going for less than $40.00 since it's just repair. If I can't repair it, I won't charge you. Keep in mind, you will have shipping to and from my shop too.

But, before you try that...maybe we can give you enough help where you can fix your solder points. If you flat give up, let me know and I'll take care of it for you.

later man

Hi realmccloy
thanks for your help i have done a few posts in this forum and you have give some good feedback
i would love to send it to you but i live in Belfast Northern Ireland and it would most proply cost to much to send back and forth to the US Sad
i think you are right about the solder pionts they have had a bit of a battering over the last few days.
think i should let the xbox R.I.P. now and make this a learning carve
but what about this other xbox you have. How much do you think it would cost to sent to Belfast ,Northern Ireland ?if the price and p+p seem fare i would be interested
or would send my motherboard by itself be an idea?
can you please get back to me?

Den -

I think there are other members that are closer to you, I.E England. I am not sure how expensive it is to ship to them, but its worth a shot.

Realmccloy probably knows who is from where and what they do so he might let you know.

XboxhackerUk is obviously from the UK... I know, I have an incredible grasp of the obvious..hehehe.

I know that ups and fedex ship worldwide, but I have only shipped to US, Canada, and Mexico so I am unsure of the cost.

I don't have a spare xbox, what I have is an actual 1.0 motherboard with a pinheader already soldered, and a D0 wire aleady soldered. That way, if someone wanted to mod their machine or nuked their mobo then all they would have to do is remove their mobo and install this one. Then, just put the chip onto the pinheader and solder the D0 wire to the top of the chip to the D0 point.

I basically did this for someone who may have tried their first shot at modding and nuked their board. I wish I was just around the corner from you, because I know I could get your mobo back in shape and get that chip working for you.

We'll see who can respond to you that is closer, in the interim I will check shipping as I already know the weight and size of box it will go in. I can even drop the price a little to accomodate for shipping. I can sell it for what I have invested which is $69.84

Hi Den,

Sorry to hear about your troubles but like you say It is a learning curve.. Smile If only you were closer to RM (realmccloy) or myself.. I would love to help you too but im in Australia and it would probably cost even more to send and it doesnt help that I work fulltime 7days aweek too so i'd be struggling for time too..

Maybe try pm'ing xboxhacker_uk.. He's pretty active on the website and is from your region.. Put up a post.. looking for members from around your area..

anyway, i would also suggest mailing your MOBO to RM if you cant find anyone else.. That should keep the costs down to a minimum with shipping and insurance.. RM could go over it for you and hopefully recover it for you.. He's done a tonne of mods lately for our members and has nearly overtaken me in mod's im sure by now.. (you bugger RM)

ive done nearly 40 modchip installs myself mostly (enigmah, 49lf020, aladdin) but dont have the time anymore so i get one of my close mates (kaso on xbox-hq.com) who i have mentoured to do the full upgrade correctly.. Smile I really hope someone here comes to the party..

cheers and good luck

Hi realmccloy
Did you check out how much it would be to send the motherboard?

Yeah, it wouldn't be worth it for the back and forth using UPS. I don't know if you can ship any cheaper as I don't know who handles your post. But, using UPS would cost near $80.00 one way!

Here is what I would suggest. Buy some desoldering braid. Using at least a 30Watt iron suck up all the solder you see near and on the LPC area.

Remove the pinheader once you have the solder removed and then see if you can get it going.

I have a 1.0 motherboard here with a pinheader and D0 wire already soldered in, but like I said...shipping would be near $80.00 or so. Plus, I couldn't find Belfast in their list of where they ship to. I had to pick another place that I thought would be close.

I would personally try the desoldering just to see if you can resurrect your xbox without a chip. Then, you can start all over again from scratch.

If you sesolder the LPC area and it still frags...well, then chances are you possibly nuked (screwed up) your motherboard. I personally believe all frags are fixable. I have ran into some difficult ones myself. That is why I am sitting on a 1.0 mobo with a pinheader and D0...HA. Fortunately, I didn't need it and fixed the frag.

Good luck
