Im about to install a X3 CE chip into my V1.0 xbox and all i have is a penceil tip 25W soldering iron. Is 25W too much for an xbox?

It should be just fine I use a 25W as well and I have installed plenty of X3s with it. Just make sure it is real hot before you start and dont hold it on the board to long and you should be fine.

Well my dad did find a 15W in his shed after all lol Razz

Anyways any tips on only get solder on the little ports. I have desoldering braid, flux cleaner and a 15W soldering iron.

i dont recommned a 15w, as you will have to hold a little longer, which can be bad, use anything from a 25w to a 30w. thats what i do.

also the finer the tip the better.

yes 25w should be fine but dont hold the iron too long or you'll melt the vias. have a search around there are countless soldering tuts to be found. xbox scene has a few also

just hit our tut section. i personally love my 28w fine tip pencil iron.
