I have had lots of problems with xbox harddrives within the last year. First, I lost my 80 gb segate back in january 2007, but revived it with the help of a prog called getdataback. So then i purchased a 200 gb Western Digital to avoid further problems with the same drive. Then very soon after having it installed, my new drive died for some wierd reason, so i found out it was because i was using M8 bios instead of X2 on my SmartXX V2 chip.
It has been working smoothly with no problems untill just now when i was playing Morowind GOTY. This game, if you dont already know, is very ram consuming and does not treat it very nice LOL. It is known to rarely lock up during load times or high ram use. It locked up in a load screen, and then i heard a big click, and thought "Oh Crap, My xbox just died again."
So it still hasn't powered up in the last 30 min and prob won't. It gives me error #7 which i am all too familiar with. But now it dosen't even click when it turns on, the HD just never starts running. If anyone at all can help me or knows how to troubleshoot something like this then PLEASE Help. I am also welcoming the idea that i might just need a new box, and this might have just bit the dust.
You all have helped me out alot in the past, and i would really appreciate it now. Any help at all is welcome. Thanks. _________________ If it's broken, repair it,

Well if it doesn't start spinning, then your HDD is dead. This means you gotta buy a new HDD(if i read the post right that is). _________________

I'm terribly sorry for all the uproar i make about simple things. All it really was, was a bad area on the IDE ribbon. When it was pushed against the console by the case or even slightly moved, it would make the HD lock up and not load. I was also using a "standard" IDE cable, not a HardDrive cable with the blue coated connector on one end.
Again i appologize, but after this happened to me so many times i thought that i was losing another Harddrive. I have developed a really bad problem with stressing over anything that has to do with the Harddrive. I hope you understand my pain. Thanks for the help anyway.
Peace. _________________ If it's broken, repair it,
