Ok... I finished my new hard drive but, I cant lock it. I followed all the instruxtions in the tutorial but, my hard disk controller on my pc is messing it up. xboxhd keeps telling me to disable the hard disk in the bios of the pc and then it will be able to be locked. My bios wont allow this. Is there an alternative way to lock it?
When I put it in the xbox as is I get an error 5.
I spent all day emptying the drive off (it was in my server pc) only to find out I cant use it yet.. LOL

It says that the hard drive is frozen and to try disabling the hard disk in the bios and try again.

Disconnect your comp HDD all together and make your bios start from CD. That should slove your problems. _________________

I only have the hd that I'm trying to lock and my cd-rom installed. The cd-rom is my boot device.

Well either your PC thinks the HDD is your normal HDD or the new HDD isn't a lockable one. If it isn't lockable then your in huge trouble. _________________

This is what your looking for, found it in a tut.
You need to:If you get a message about a frozen drive, just disable auto detect for the drive (xboxhdm will detect the HDD even if it's disabled!) _________________

I've tried in both my pc's.. My compaq Presario and my old gateway.
I just found a way to disable the drive in the gateway but xboxhdm does not find it that way...

On my dell dimension 2400 boots up u press F2 to boot into setup. After this you find the HDD settings and turn it off. Restart your compaq and try finding a part on the screen that tells you what key boots setup. _________________

Ok, I've been through 3 different hard disks. None will lock. Looked them all up at the above link and they are all lockable. I diable auto detection in the bios and linux will not find the drive. I enable auto detection and the drive is frozen. I cant win. Guess I'm stuck with 8gb
Am I going to have to go through the whole locking step when I chip my other xbox?
