I was wondering if an xbox could use a computer hard drive because I have an old 40 gig lying around.

Yes it will use a standard IDE pc hdd. There is many links about what steps to use. Do some looking on forums/tut section and you will find info on how to get Xb data on it.

Yes, you use pc HDD's in xboxes, xboxes don't have special HDD just for it. It just needs to be a ATA connector, NOT A SATA CONNECTOR. If u have a softmod then use XboxHDM, if your mod chipped use a auto installer disk to format the new drive.
