There's a good Chimp tutorial underneath my sig, its the same one I followed when I did my first HDD upgrade. If you get stuck or need help at any point, just give us a shout and we'll be happy to help.

Also, just to help you along, yes, set the second HDD (new, bigger HDD)to slave.

Should be an option to clone the entire drive, not just the partitions.

Ok, you would use the selection to clone the enitre disk and I did this byte by byte. This makes sure that you have the exact same data on each drive, but does take longer.

Also, the moment Chimp starts, then you disconnect the IDE from the DVD and stick it into your new HDD. Now, there's no reason why you can't clone partition by partition. Your rnew HDD is blank at the minute and if anything goes wrong, you can simply format and start again. So clone C: then E: This option should be used only if you cannot clone entire drive, fully or byte by byte.

Not to worry if you haven't got v2.6, v2.4 is the same version I used, and I'm still using. There's no real difference between the versions and 2.4 will serve your needs without any problem. Just sounds like you aren't selecting the right menu options.

Ok, I will set about typing a step by step tutorial for Chimp. In the meantime, when you select "clone drive" what happens?

ok this is what is happening,
i switch on the xbox in evo dash i select chimp soon as the select option screen comes up i swap the ide cable from back of original hd and put it in the new hd,then i select number 1 on the option list scan physical ide devices, asks me to make sure i have connected all my device and option to choose yes or no, so i choose yes, then i get this white writin on a black background then after a bit it changes to a screen that have my new drive info on it from what i can make out, cause it have the model number and serial number of the new hard drive on that screen,at the bottom of the screen it says drive comforms to: device does not report version.is this a problem? then at botom it has just one option to exit that screen so i do,then the list of options comes up like,
1 scan physical ide drive
2clone from master to slave
3 lock slave drive

and so on,so i select option 2 clone from master to slave.
brings up a screen that says about to scan your ide device and option again to choose yes or no so i choose yes and that screen about my new hd comes up again so i choose exit as its the only option, then screen comes up that says choose yes will wipe out and reformat this disk/dev/null be warned so i choose yes from the yes no option, then a screen comes up that says,hd cloning from dev/hda to dev/null
how would you like to clone it
2 options
1 full disk byte by byte
2 selective by partition/drives
so i select number 1
brings up screen about monitoring the progress choose blind or periodially show so i choose blind option 1,then it brings up another screen saying partition to clone and its only giving me option 1 c-drive or option 2 e-drive so as this is the only options i seem to have i choose 1 then the device cloning screen comes u but about 2 secs later it goes back to list screen where i can chosse to scan drive or clone master to slave and so on so this is where im stuck and confused

Woah, hold up. You take the IDE cable out of the DVD drive and put it into the new HDD, not the cable from the old HDD.
So you should have the IDE cable running into original HDD (set as master) and then into new HDD (set as slave). The DVD should not have an IDE cable plugged into it during this process, although the power to the DVD drive must remain in.

That would be why your drive isn't cloning, your not going from one disk to another, you're trying to clone the partitions on the same disk.

Ok, I have completed an in-depth, step by step guide for Chimp, which is located underneath my sig.

It should help you out a great deal.
