Very very silly I know but I did it in a moment of frustration.
Basically I softmodded a brand new Xbox not long ago with Softmod.Installer.Deluxe.v2.0.Xbox-Hq.rar via Splinter Cell. I had EvoX installed as dashboard.
Everything worked fine except I could never load MSDashboard. It always came up with a black screen. This didn't bother much until I received my component cables. To get HDTV, the only solution was to get to the original dashboard so I foolishly renamed xboxdash.xbe to msxboxdash.xbe and also changed the EvoX.ini so it would match the new renamed file.
Now nothing works, I get Error 13. I kept a backup of the Xbox's contents (C and E drives) on my PC after I softmodded and I tried booting EvoX via a DVD but it didn't work (I get Error 14 when I do so). Also tried loading the original Splinter Cell game but that doesn't work either.
Any solutions? I have another Xbox which is modded and another one which is softmodded exactly as the one which is messed up.
I've just tried an original copy of Halo2 and that ran.

I'm sure there is another way to do this, but what I'd probobly do is rebuild the HDD with xboxhdm 1.9 (availible in the downloads section). This could also be your excuse to upgrade the hdd _________________
Thanks for the help guys.
After a night of head scratching, I managed to salvage it.
One thing that was weird was that Splinter Cell did not boot at all the 5-6 times I tried before I posted this thread.
Then when I got back from work, I put Halo 2 in and that booted on the first go. I tried the dashboard update thingy but that gave Error 21.
I was puzzled as to why Halo2 would boot but not Splinter Cell so I decided to give SC another try and wtf, it booted no problem.
Thankfully, I still had the save hack on! So I managed to rename the xbe and restore everything back to normal.
One thing that is still bugging me is that the original MS Dashboard still doesn't work!
Yes I do have a copy of all my backups on my PC but the Xbox wouldn't boot anything I burnt on disc.

Glad to see everything worked out allright. Kinda weird that your splintercell wouldnt work. Maybe the disc was dirty or possibly even the laser. I softmodded a box for a freind and it would only read certain discs sometimes for him. Thinking I screwed up the box, he was alittle upset with me. I had his dvdrom apart cleaned and back together in about 5 minutes... problem solved. As for the original MS Dash not working, Its not going to work with your softmod. What exactly are you trying to do with the MS dash? _________________
I'm getting a set of component cables and I'll need to change the video settings to enable HDTV. I heard this can only be done in the MS dashboard. However after some more researching, there's mention of Avalaunch being able to set this as well. Can anyone confirm before I install Avalaunch?

I dont really know much about avalaunch but I'm sure you can run it as an app. So if noone gets back to you soon I say just go for it. _________________

Id use softmod installer 4 to put on unleashx dash onto it. Unleashx has setting for HDTV inside of the menu settings, and its much better than evox _________________
