I have been reading on how to install flash and backup games for quite a while and I have tried to find the answers on my own with out posting another newbie post.
here is what I have
Xbox v 1
xenium ice OS v2.0 installed
when I power up the Xbox it loads the xenium 0S 2.0(red screen)
I insert the bios.bin dvd and the drive isnt found (tried with different media and followed step by step instruction on burning with NERO. however if I put a retail xbox game in the drive and let the Xenium os2.0 see the D drive ...and if I take out the xbox game and insert the bios.bin press D it opens with nothing although if you press the white button on the M$ remote the exbox will reboot and when you go back in to the D drive you will see the bios.bin file - so I load it up pick a color - so my question is one I have the DASH loaded onto a DVD - do I launch the bios.bin file from the OS launch screen with the DASH in the D drive ????
I have dont this and the Xenium OS just keeps coming back up and not loading the DASH (evox)...
I am thinking of switching out my DVD drive in the Xbox to see if it is the Crappy Thompson DVD drive issue that I am having -
Any help would be Great !!!!!!

well if u get an autoinstaller u wont get a head ache u can download on here on our vip downloads or download Slayers...
If ur using Xenium u can ftp so ftp the evox.bin file to ur box then go in launch menu... add a new item.... then c:/(or where ever u ftped it) then hit the Evox.bin
now from there when u load evox u should get a little sign in the right corner saying Evox if that work now reboot with the autoinstaller inside of it and load the bank(evox) and follow the instructions...

If you are having media issues, FTP'ing is the easiest way to get your machine flashed. So simple.
If you have a router, it's even easier as you don't need to find a cross over cable.
From your red xenium ice OS screen:
Select: Settings
Select: FTP Settings: Make sure FTP server is ON
Select: Netork Settings
Select: Using Dynamic IP and change to Static IP
Select IP: and insert your correct IP Address of your xbox
Select: Restart Network
Now, you can FTP the bios.bin file to your C drive of your Xbox
Then, all you have to do is select, "Launch Menu", "Add New Item", and Flash. You will then get the list of drives showing and select C and load your bios.bin file.
If you have anymore questions on networking or FTP'ing don't hesitate to ask. We can help you get set up.

Okay, all you need to do is assign an IP address to your xbox. Your PC already has one. If you don't know what your IP address is let me know what Operating System you are using. I have Windows XP Pro 2004 Media Center Edition. I have to click on Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command Promp.
When the dos window opens I type ipconfig
Then I can see my IP Address. Then just type exit to leave the dos window. Now for the wonderous networking lesson:
*Welcome to the wonderful world of Xbox networking - class 101*
To understand Xbox/PC networking you need to think about PC networking a bit even if you know nothing about it - its very logical.
An IP address is execalty what it sounds like -its an address expressed as numbers - it identifies a device on a network and allows you to contact it - there more to it that this but its this concept you need to understand.
There are 2 ways to get an IP address - dynamically (DHCP) or statically,
this first option is called dynamic or DHCP because your IP may be different every time you switch the device on as it gets the IP at that time from a selection of possible ones availible on the PC giving them out.
To get an IP you need a device that can assign them - makes sense you say - Xbox cannot assign IP's - it doesnt have the ability as its not got the correct software. PC's can do it but they need to be setup correctly for this (its easy).
Personally I dont use dynamic IP's on my Xbox as I like to know what IP it has everytime and I find it easy to setup so I suggest you stick to static by setting it on you Evox Dashboard (in your case your Xenium OS setings) and on your PC to be the same all the time.
WHAT IP ADDRESS TO USE ?
No two devices can have the same IP on the same network - if they did how would you know which was which - they have to be different But they have to be able to "see" each other and to do this you need to have the same subnet - WTF is a subnet ?
Basically - (very basically - please forgive me networking gurus out there) just make sure the first 3 numbers (called octets) are the same but the last number is different.
e.g These are good example of 2 IP's on the same subnet - I use this at home. I wont go into why this is a good IP address but you can use anything as long as its under 255.
IP address
192.168.0.1 PC
192.168.0.2 Xbox
Your Xbox has 3 setting on it on Evox so in this case.
XBOX
Xbox- IP - use 192.168.0.2
Default gateway - us the PC's IP so 192.168.0.1
Subnet - 255.255.255.0 - dont ask just do it.
PC
The PC needs have the IP set on the network setting (in control panel) on the TCP/IP setting.
PC - IP 192.168.0.1
subnet 255.255.255.0 - same as Xbox (always)
Once this is done the PC and the Xbox are "on the same Network" if you like and should be able to see each other.
*You may need to reboot both PC and Xbox*
Using a FTP program (flashFXP or CuteFTP etc) connect to the Xbox using its IP (192.168.0.2) and the username xbox and password xbox and there you go. you can see the drives on the Xbox - now you have to figure out what you want to do and not mess your xbox up. Award yourself a MCSE in networking and smoke a fat one.
I hope this info helps you. I use FlashFXP, but CuteFTP may work fine for you. I have tried several and FlashFXP always seems to work everytime as others have failed for me on occasion.

You don't need to convert. You need the bios to be 256K

Do I just run the application (downloaded file ) put in the password and then it look like it exteracts to a RAR file ?? (stacked books) do I then just put that on a DVD?? I tried that with Verbatim discs that I usually use - loaded the alt bios and it said that disc cannot by used dirty ect....
I used xISO to extract (to see what was in the file and I didnt see a .iso file -
I hope that this makes sense - I know I am almost done .....
