Hey I would like to upgrade my xbox hard drive do 120 and I was wondering if i could just use a normal computer hard drive to do it. Also I am running a soft mod of Unleashed and I wanted to know how I can copy all the things from my old hd to my new one.(if it will work...) Any software out there? I'ver heard of a thing called chimp and i read a little forum about it, but i am still in the dark. Oh one more thing, Is anyone running a version of linux on their box like media linux or DSM? just wondering if it can/is being done.

Ok, if you're going to upgrade, you'll have to use an IDE-based HDD, exactly the same as the ones you find in PC's. If you buy a SATA HDD, you will need an adapter to make it fit the Xbox and you will lose data transfer rate.

Next, if you're wanting to keep all existing data and just increase the size, Chimp is definitely the way to go. You'll have to install it as an app on your Xbox and run it from there. It will work on Xbox versions 1.0 - 1.5, so if you have those versions you're laughing. If your box is a v1.6, you can still use Chimp, but you will need to telnet into it.

For more details on how to upgrade using Chimp, check the tutorial under my sig.
