I have a softmodded xbox with evox dash installed and a 250 GB HD. I have ftp'd from my PC to the xbox to transfer files. Previously, I'd gone from another xbox to the PC and got approx 11MB/s speeds or so, but now, with new xbox it starts off at about 1MB/s then quickly slows down to approx 55 Kb/s!!!!!! I tried using another ethernet cable to no avail. I am connected to a linksys router. not sure if I need to change any settings in router, PC or xbox, but I'd really like to get some speed out of this transfer! Please help!
P.S. - I'm using Filezilla to FTP, but that's what I used for old xbox too, so not sure if that's the problem

Ok, first of all, are you going direct from PC to Xbox?
If so, what RJ45 speed do you have on the motherboard of the PC? The connection on the Xbox motherboard has a maximum speed of 100MB/s, which is probably the same on your PC.
I use FlashFXP and I get transfer speeds of around 70 - 90MB/s, using crossover cable, direct to Xbox. You may want to check firewall settings and allowed addresses to make sure you're not losing some connectivity.
If you're going via a router, your transfer speed will be reduced. Even 11MB/s is really slow for a cable connection. When you ping the IP of the Xbox, what is the response time?
Here's what I get from a ping. Should I get another FTP program? and you're saying just buy a crossover cable and connect direct?

Well, your ping seems to be fine. To get maximum speed, the crossover cable is definitely the way to go. There's no chances for packet loss which may cause the drop off in speed. Plus, you'r utilising the full transfer and receive speeds of the RJ45 ports.
Programs like FlashFXP, CuteFTP and Qwix(which is included with AID) are definitely programs you should be trying as well. This'll give you the best chance to get the best out of the transfer.
OK, I just got my crossover cable and installed FlashFXP and I still only get around 100 kb/s!!!! is there a setting in my PC, FlashFXP or the xbox that needs to be changed?? Any other ideas?

I just tried running winsockxpfix.exe, which I read on another site had helped many with slow networks. It didn't help me. However, one thing I did notice is that it changed all my network settings...maybe there's something wrong with my network settings? I have each PC (and the xbox) set to a static LAN IP, and I have the Default Gateway set to my router's IP, as well as the Primary DNS Server set to the same router IP address. Is this right or wrong? I've had 2 PC's running with this setup for a while with virtually not real noticeable problems. Should I be making everything acquire dynamic IP addresses, etc? If so, then how do I know what IP to use when trying to FTP to the xbox?

In FlashFXP, turn on (or off, sorry..not in front of it right now) passive mode. Its in the Toggles window. I bet you a million bucks that will solve it.

That is also a step to take. So you're saying with a direct cable connection from PC to XBox you only get a max of 7MB/s?
Definitely turn off PASV mode and then see what happens. To better judge the transfer speed, try copying one big file across instead of lots of little ones.
