All I did was FTP the program into my proper apps folder. ( E:/Apps ) Then I rebooted my xbox and the app was there.
I then used the scan feature to find the MP3's that I originally had FTP'd for XBMP. I have also uploaded shoutcast playlist settings for the shoutcast feature.
We don't have a lot of tutorials for XBMC as of yet. I have an unofficial manual somewhere that I will upload to the download section if I haven't already, or if someone else hasn't for that matter. It is a PDF document that has a ton of information.
In the interim, go to the source and check out the forums there too. Here is the section for new users:
I know the link says xboxmediaplayer, but this is a media center forum.
I will post a reply about the manual that I have once I search for it on my backup disks. I have just done a recovery on my PC and do not think I have it on my HD right now. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I can't find my manual, but here is a link that you can download several manuals from.
The beta manual is 10MB, so it must be pretty thorough.

One more quick mention if you still haven't read a tutorial...
Where Realmccloy said to put Xbox Media Center on E Drive, that's only if you have a normal sized hard drive. If you have put a bigger hard drive in your Xbox it will go on F Drive (ie: /F/Apps/XBMC)
Just thought I'd quickly mention that...

Hmm...I have a 120GB HD and I was sure I set mine up on E: with my other apps, I will have to double check that. Thanks for the heads up. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Just checked out my hierarchy, and I did FTP XBMC to my E: Drive instead of my F. I haven't had any problems with it, not that I use it everyday though. DJB, is there any disadvantage to doing what I did? I can always remove it and reinstall on correct drive if I am missing out on something. Thanks! _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

There's no harm in putting your Apps on E Drive, the main reason why I put everything on F is coz I have Debian on E Drive and that takes about 2.25 GB, plus it's the way the Xbox was set up when I got it...

Cool, I can understand that. Was just making sure I wasn't going to end up with config issues down the road or something. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Nah it's all good. I just consider it good organisation to have all your uploaded stuff on F Drive...

How do I get it to not scan the nonexistant G drive? It locks up as soon as it attempts to scan it.
I have <useGDrive>no</useGDrive> in XboxMediaCenter.xml but that didn't appear to do anything.

That should work, it's confused me...
Have you got G drive turned off in EvoX aswell?

What size HD do you have??
Like DJB said, check your evox settings..use G drive should be "yes" not "no" I would imagine.
Here's a wild one, I just did a 1.6 with a 250GB HD...when I formatted you would have thought that I would have gotten a G drive..but no...I got a F drive with 221GB on it!! First time I have seen that, then again it's the first time I put a 250GB on a 1.6. Been all 120GB drives till now.
later all

I've changed evox settings as well and have tried "yes" also in both with bios supporting a G drive as well as bios not supporting it.
Shoot, the next thing I was going to try was replacing my 120gb drive with a 200gb in my 1.6 but if that doesn't get me a G drive...
What I failed to notice until a few minutes ago, I can pospone doing a scan until I've selected a drive (and even a folder if I wanted) - that way it doesn't lock up trying to scan the nonexistant G.

I wonder if there is a way you can edit some ini or xml file to ignore the G drive.
Let me kick this around and see what I can come up with..there has to be a way to exclude a drive that doesn't exist. I have used the scan feature but I only have a 120GB HD and G doesn't exist at all on mine, and my evox is set up with no G drive _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Well, as far as I knew that option to turn G Drive off was all you needed in XBMC. You could delete the sections in the .xml where it gives prompts to look on G Drive, but that doesn't do any scanning as such, just displaying.
