well....i went out and bought a crossover cable so that i can connect directly to my xbox.
but using the tutorials i found i cant get it working, so i installed my other network card, set my xbox to dhcp, and now its got a ip address, but my computer still cant connect ftp.
i need a good tutorial, or someone to walk me through it.
my pc and xbox is downstairs, with only one connection available , and the router is upstairs, which is why i wanted direct connection, so i didnt have to keep running upstairs and downstairs trying to play on kai xlink, and so i can stream off my pc instead of moving onto my dads pc, then disconnecting my pc and connecting the xbox etc...

I had the same problem you were having... But instead of messing with the crossover cable I just tricked my mom and moved the router downstairs. Now I get the better connection to the wireless to. _________________

lol, dosnt quite work for me since i dont feel like bailing another $50+ for another 100 foot cat 5 cable....

I have DSL so all i had to do was plug it into the phone line down here. _________________

now that im connected though i can only see the shared files on my pc, and not my home network...
and i cant see the weather like i dont think it can connect to the internet, its just going through my pc.

to do the other stuff u need to set the ip of the xbox to where it is exactally the same as on the pc and u should get an error on ur pc when done right. the stuff should work just dont share your inet connection _________________

Have you bridged the connection on your PC between your Internet Connection and your Xbox Connection?

tell me exactly how...
i tried last night, and then i couldnt connect to internet on my pc or xbox, or view lan nothing, it basically just raped all my internet connections

omg.....i dont know what i did, but if i have my xbox turned on now, my compter drops its internet connection...........
as in i cant use the internet while my xbox is on now.

no, i undid the bridge......and when i do this the xbox still wont connect to the internet..........
and now i can play kai xlink.............

partially fixed, i used a system restore point, which fixed it.
but i still cant get internet on xbox
