i must be doing something wrong here..i've got my eeprom.bin file placed in the eeprom folder but when i run option 6 it says eeprom.bin not found and gives me 3 options: look on floppy; type location manually and something else i can't remember..i have the correct filename so why won't it find it in the eeprom folder on the cd?

are your file extensions hidden...you may have accidently named it eeprom.bin.bin if they are.... _________________

no, my file extensions are not hidden. in any case this will never work with the sammy drive since the drive is not lockable. i'm back to my retail drive again.
so anyway, the boot cd:
CDROM
6 folders:
C - contains ms dash 5960
E - apps, cache, udata, tdata etx
EEPROM - eeprom.bin (256kb)
F
ISOLINUX - boot.cat, fatximage etc
XBOX - fatx.raw, head.raw
3 files:
ABOUT_THIS_CD.TXT
CHECK
README.TXT
now when i boot the disc with xbox hd attached i choose option 1 then option, at this stage it always tells me eeprom.bin not found. i cannot copy eeprom.bin to a floppy because when in windows my floppy drive is not detected.
please someone give me step by step instructions and tell me anything i might be doing wrong.
i've also got my hdd key and hdd password on a piece of paper, but even using the lockhd -p [alphanumeric password] does not work!!

U mightve grabbed the wrong eeprom cuz there is a fake one in there too. try using xplorer360 to find a file like eeprombackup.bin that should be the right eeprom and burn another disc _________________

When you softmodded oyur Xbox what Sid did you use...?
See the backup you have your trying to use is not the real one so even if you get it to lock with that one the Xbox wont be able to open it.... _________________

sid 3.1 with nkpatcher system. then did 1 click installs with aid 3.1. i'm really cheesed off that i am unable to unlock my hd so that it works with the xbox, i've been trying to do this for 2 nights now and i'm freaking!
with my xbox hd hooked up to my pc i can read it using xplorer360. partition 4 contains backups called EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.TXT, EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.cfg, EepromBackupBeforeUpdate.bin, unlock.log, EepromBackup.txt, EepromBackup.cfg and EepromBackup.bin.
in partition5:
Evox3935>
Backup:
Eeprom.bin
HDDinfo.txt
HDDkey.bin
disk.bin
bios.bin
i've copied the Backup folder files to the linux cdrom eeprom folder and burnt the disc, the locking tools just won't work and i do not know why. this whole thing actually started when i was messing about seeing what i could do with Evox, i selected 'unlock harddrive' then i selected 'power cycle' at which stage the xbox shut down. when i turned it back on i got the error 05. i did the hotswap method and found the harddrive was still unlocked, what i've read up on shows that the xbox won't play with an unlocked drive. so why didn't the xbox relock it? and why can't i lock it with the xboxhdm recover disc that i burnt using the aforementioned eeprom.bin? so far i am totally screwed, it's not even my xbox, it's the wife's and she only let me mess about with it cos i said i was improving it. it was all ok, it's only after fiddling that i screwed things up!
