I accidentally formated the whole stock hard drive when I was upgrading to xbmc. I ftp backed up the c and e drive on cpu. Okay i Made a iso file with xbhdm and copied c, e and eprom to linux folder -626326 iso size. hotswapped to primary cable dvd burner slave and I boot up to Xbox HD maker and recoverery tool and I have hit 1,2 and the screen goes black and i hit 3 and a lot of dos like stuff comes up ending with something like E//.. or A/.. i cant remeber. What im i doing wrong... and the error screen comes up on tv and hard drive locks again.??

Are you following the hotswap tutt by the letter...
Cos i have done a hotswap and it dose seem all to much, but if you take it slow it's quite easy...
Read it a copple of times with a cup of coffee the try again...
or mabe you will need to burn the disk a little slower (mabe)..

It wont boot to dash but will load oo7 is there a way to ftp and tranfer the files back

redid iso file and when choosing 3 on xbox harddrive maker is saying Illegal partition table- drive 00 sector 0 welcome to freedos A:\> what do i do next I have no clue tks and please

The only thing i can think of is it's not burning right...
or the hdd is not unlocking...
Read number 11 on the tutt and follow it realy slowly...
Why are you choosing 3 it says choose one (1)....
EDIT
Needed Tools:
- xboxhdm 1.9
- Torx 10 And Torx 20 Screwdrivers - To Open XBOX
- A PC(remove all hd's) ,blank CD-R/W and A CD Burner
- DVDdecryptor (http://www.dvddecrypter.com)
- C drive backup or latest MS dash

Steps:
1. if you got a backup of your c you don't need to download latest msdash, if you don't got a backup download ms dash and keep it ready on your pc.
2. unpack xboxhdm onto your pc .
3. put ms dash in the C folder into the xboxhdmlinux folder and overwrite the ones already there.
4. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish.
5. It will make a .iso file. (burn this file with dvddecryptor), put the cd in the pc .
6. unplug the XBOX DVDROM IDE cable, take the power cable off the dvd-rom.
7. Turn on the PC, Before the PC BIOS looks for hard drives, hit the Pause/Break key. It should pause at this time.
8. Turn on the Xbox .
9. It will boot to an error code(nr 11) regarding the dvd-rom, but the hdd will be unlocked, this way you'll get xboxhdm to access it on first attempt Now remove ide from hd and swap it to the pc
10. Hit space bar to continue booting the PC. If it takes a long time to boot (several minutes), then the HD has not been unlocked.
11. you will get a menu,now choose Option 1 (by typing 1 and press enter to boot VGA console with xbox-drive utilities (default). Type 'xboxhd' when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says 'Build a new Xbox HD from scratch') and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. when it asks you about C type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes .
12. power down pc and xbox.
13. put the hd back in the xbox and boot.
Nice you just recovered your hard drive !!!
PS if you get a msg about a frozen drive , just disable auto detect for the drive (xboxhdm will detect the hd even if it's disabled!) _________________

i was wondering on the bois setup on my cpu. in booting up on 1. dvd/cd 2. disabled 3. diabled. and Try other boot devises OFF. is this right .

First boot should be CD-rom it dosent matter if 2 is the same.. _________________

xboxHdm boots up good but when i hit 1 it starts run and the screen goes black i thought mybe i need to turn on try other boot devices on the cpu bios. or am i not hotswapping correcty. I got it to boot up to cd/dvd only.

What's your jumper setting on hdd Primary/master..?
And are you useing the pause/break button b4 the comp looks for the hdd
Turn on xbox.
and then then swap the IDE, then hit spacebar.

the sock hd is labled funny, on the bottom of the hd the master is the 3rd set of jumpers on labled part on the board but on the black plastic part its the 4th set of jumpers I thought it was a misprint and have them on the 3rd set and the cd/dvd on slave. goto go to work now its almost 6 pm , thaks for helping i try some more in the morning and get back tomorrow after noon.

Im using nero 6 and burning image to disc on a cdr-w. I booted to menu and hit 1 with a new 250g hd in and the swapped xbox hard drive and the screen goes black. I believe the iso image is right but i think that i need another program the make the cd . dvd decrypter is no longer downloadable is there another program out there i can use. thanks

NO sorry i ment that dvd decrypter is in the files that you download for makeing the Aid 3.10 disk. In the tools folder......
So you are trying to make a Xboxhdm Iso disk ..... _________________
