I'm a complete new bie to xbox. I just got my xbox and I want to soft mod it. I was reading up a lot of stuff and I'm still a little confused. Is there a step by step instruction of stuff to need and how to do it. Hoipefully I don;t mess up my investment.
Also I read that yo need "Action Replay" I think its a memeory device to transfer files from PC to XBOX. Can this be done with a USB cable? Does the instructions differ if you can use a USB cable. I don't have anything other than the console and a controller. Thanks for the help, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks fo rth link. So I bought the Action Replay anyway. I have another problem while trying this out. So I bought the MechAssault as decribed, part number - X10-59226 and my dash is as described in the tutorial. So I downloaded SID 4.5. Copied the installer and MechAssault files to HDD. When I boot from the CD and select "RUN LINUX", I see that the "Current Level" displayed is "Suffer the Silence" and not "Going Down Hard", I did read somewhere I think that they should match. IS that true? What Am I doing wrong? Will wait, until I hear something I guess.

Actually I think it could be a bug. I see another saved thing not "Mech Warrior", but this one has the level as "Suffer the Silence". I created another profile with "Planet fall". When I move the pointer from "Planet Fall" profile to "Run LInux", is shows the level as "Planet Fall", then when I moved up and come down it shows the previous ones level. Am I seeing this right?
So went ahead and clicked on "Run Linux", but now I don't see the screen as per the tutorial displaying all the menu options. What I see is acctually another select screem where every think is blank, its the select mission screen. If I choose the "Mech Warrior" profile. its starts on with the cursor on "Going Down Hard", then has "Eating Dirt" and "Planet Fall". Please let me know what I should do.
I think by mistake on the blank screens to select the ,mission, I might have pressed select, not sure. It did kind of have a flickering screen. So I just restarted the box, and eveything seems fine. Awaitng expert instructions, thanks.

I fgured it out and successfully modded it.
I went to my hard drive and completely removed anything realted to Mech Assault saves. Then rebooted, copied the save from the memory card and after that eveything worked great
