HI all,
Have got to the HELP PLEA stage with my softmod..... frustration here as it all sounds so easy on paper!
Followed the PDF NKNAVE V4.5 manual instructions to a tee using USB stick and Splinter Cell PAL.
After backing up EEPROM and MSDASH, I ran the INSTALL SOFTMOD option and all files ran well, no error messages etc. It then asked me to reboot the XBOX to finish the installation....
This is where I find chapter 6 of the manual gets vague. Do I leave the Splinter Cell disc in when I reboot or take it out? Leave tray open or shut? What does the HIGH DEF PATCH do?
Any of these combinations with the SC disc in boots back up into the game, but if I take the disc out I get an ERROR 13 screen.
Any suggestions? I can use SC disc to get back in and restore and the XBOX again works fine.
My main mission is to use the XBOX modded with XBMC. Should I be using another installer with a V1.1 box?

sounds like the softmod did'ent take..
What sid are you useing SID4.5?
Did you not get the black screen with an xbox on it telling you it needs to finnish the install..
without the disk in.. _________________

Yes SID 4.5.
After clicking on INSTALL SOFTMOD from SID 4.5 main menu, I saw all the files being copied over and then the request to shutdown the XBOX came up.
I said YES, XBOX turned off. I then manually restarted the XBOX without the disk and got the MS Error 13 message. With SC disc back in, the game launched normally.

when it restart's you should get the screen with the xbox on it telling you to press a button then it starts rebuilding c drive....

When it shuts down should it automatically restart or do I need to turn it back on manually with power button?
Do I leave Splinter Cell disk in there? Ahh just say earlier post saying to remove it. Does it matter when?

i normaly pust the eject button to restart the xbox then you get the screen..
Just a question are you useing the right SC gamesave PAL or NTSC _________________

I also meant to say that I do have a second XBOX with a modchip in it if that can help solve any problems.
I just thought seeing this 2nd hand XBOX I have bought this week has 12 months warranty from the store I would do softmod instead of a second modchip.

You can use a chiped xbox But i've only done it this way....

to get the files to my memory stick, I loaded the memory stick into a controller port on my modchipped box. It mapped it as drive L, so I copied the files over to the mem stick using FTP program from the "SID 4.5 Nknave Edition\UDATA\555300c and 21585554" folders. I wasn't sure about the dir structure needed, so I used the above directory names as given.
I couldn't get my XBOX formatted memory stick to be seen in the PC with the action replay software.
The files all copied from my PC to memory stick in the mochipped XBOX, and then again when I copied the files from mem stick onto hard drive of the XBOX to be softmodded.
The game exploit etc all seems to run fine, just the reboot stops me.

Tried single boot just then, exact same problem.
Would I need to do a restore before trying a new setting like this?
