Hi all,
Thanks for taking the time to read this. I am very technically literate, but a noob with xbox softmodding, but trying to learn I have a v1.0 XBOX that was softmodded with SID3/UnleashX by a friend. It has a 200GB Maxtor in it. However, as part of the holiday season, my XBOX now has christmas lights
Problem:
HD is locked/softmod is borked/boots up with service your xbox green screen (no error code)
Background:
I was trying to upload the newest XBMC and make it the default dash, but everytime I'd boot it would get a message saying it couldn't find a file in red text. I then foolishly loaded up SID 3.1 with the intention of making a clean installation, and formatted and prepped all 4 drives (C/E/F/G), and then installed the SID 3.1, ms dash, ms dash patch, and XBMX (Soft DHCP). When I rebooted, I got the green screen with no error number. I tried booting off of SID 3.1 again, with no luck. I then put the original WD 8GB drive in with the bare softmod, and it booted fine.
So I do have the original eeprom backed up, and the xboxhdm hdkey txt file with the information from the original drive. I obviously then have the original hdd key and password. However, that doesn't help me much with the newer 200GB drive I don't think.
When I put the drive in a spare pc, and boot up and run atapwd, or xboxhdm unlockx/unlockhd hdunlock, I can't unlock the drive. When I run xinfo (or whatever the name is), it shows me the drive model and serial num, but all 0's for the xbox serial, mac, hdd key, etc.
I'm about to try loading halo 2, and other games to see if they'll load with the non-working drive, to see if I could try the hotswap trick.
So my question is, can any of you please suggest steps to unlock the non-original drive knowing that I have the original drive (softmodded), and the eeprom.

Side note, I was able to load 3 of my retail games that I tested, so I may try the swap tonight.
Thanks for those that have read my problem so far. If anyone has any suggestions (besides stop being as friggin noob), I'd appreciate it

Woooo, resolved. How swap worked like a champ the first try. Reinstalled the software, then was able to go in and immediately backup the hd key and password.

Ok I dont know what he means by hot swapping the hard drive. My problem is this
I have a Softmodded Xbox with a 250 gb maxtor
I have the keys when I fo info
but when i tried to use unlockx or hdunlock it tells me it cant
some times when I use Atapwd it does not show up
the drive works in the xbox and I put XBMC
I just didnt want to put the 250 in there for good
I even bought HD-X-Lock it did not work ? not sure whats going on

ok and secondly if you have your eeprom and MSDASH you should be able to get that hdd in there properly if not then idk. _________________
