well any harddrive you get wont be the size as stated, its usually rounded up, as the size is calculated by multiplying the number of cylinders by the number of heads by the number of sectors by the number of bytes/sector (most commonly 512).
So thats all the space thats on your harddrive _________________

hi thanks for replay i no about the sizes of hdds and that a hdd that says 300gb or any size is little smaller. thanks for that any ways what i want to no is that on the AID disc on the format part theres 3 differant options format standard hdd, format larger hdd and format largest hdd. i did larger it says in the manual that that option is for drives up to 150gb my hdd is a 300gb any way the drive is showing all the space on just f: partion. if i did it on format largest hdd. does that just fromat the hdd with a f: and g: and have 1/2 of the amount on each and not have the all on f:

its up to you on how you want your harddrive, but having it all on f isnt really advisable, but you would have to basically reformat f for 137 gb and format g for the rest. _________________

The harddrive can fragment over time, not nessarly at that time but later on down the road. Also depending on how it was formated as well. _________________

Ok. So why do files go missing? would it still happen on a hdd thats been formatted with a f: and a g: Also if i reformated using the formating program on apps on xbox and format f: for games and g: for movies, music photos? like format f: as 200gb for movies and that and format g: as the rest for games. or would it just be the same as using it al on f:

Files go missing because they are missplaced on the harddrive or corrupt.
It would be less likely for that to happen if you have it formated with a F and G instead of having all on F _________________

so the only way a file could go missing is if i missplaced it on my hdd and lost were it was or if the file become damaged like game games do. or if i copyed a currpt file to the xbox it would be currpt on xbox.
