I don't want you guys to think that I took the easy road and just posted my question up first. I have been reading all the Tutorials and anything else I can find on this site for the past two days. The problem that I'm having is that alot of the Tutorials are written from the point of view that the person reading them has more knowledge then I do. Some tutorials seem very helpful and then I'll come to a part that states there is a previous action that needs to be completed first before this can work....
Well I thought that maybe I could just post up what my intentions are and see what everyone's suggestions are.
I just recently picked up an Xbox from a friend (Don't know the Version yet, I'll have to check) and my main goal is to use the Xbox as the brain for an Arcade machine. I'd like to install a larger HDD and whatever other modifications that I need to install all the emulators and roms that I can get my hands on. And also have the ability to copy Xbox games to the HDD as well.
So with that being said. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction. Maybe there is a thread already out there with this info and a simple link would do the trick. Or maybe you might want to give me a list of parts that I'll need and give me an idea of how to implement them into the system that I want.
Thanks for the help.

Ok well theres 2 routes u can take. Softmod or hardmod. if you want to do a softmod it will be a little more difficult to add a bigger hdd. if you chose hardmod u can get a good chip for about 40 and then u got the cost of the hdd. Now they will cost about the same if u dont have a action replay or nething like that. now a hardmod u can put in a new hdd and pop in a copy of AID (aideluxe.com) and install msdash and then hacked dash of ur choice. then u can install all emulators. I like a hardmod cuz their more reliable. _________________

I am definitely leaning towards the Chip Mod. I did alot of reading today on the Xecuter 3 Chip. What is your opinion on this? I read the tutorial on how to do the install for this chip and I think that I can handle it with minimal problems.
Does this chip mod allow for swapping in a larger HHD?
Any experience with this chip would be great.

I have one, great chip! Yes you can pop in your HDD and even format it with the chps config live menu(s)!! Its taht easy, but then you WILL need AID for a dashboard. Now there is also a solderless adapter for this chip(and many others as well)wich mean u just put the wires where they need to go! _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

I'm assuming that the solderless adapter makes the install easier. But is it as secure as the solder option, or is the solderless more prone to loose connections?
Honestly the mechanical mod part I don't think i'll have a problem with. Its understanding the software part of it that I'm worried about. Being that we have free reign of the VIP Server.. can anyone tell me what all I should get now while I can take advantage of it?
Do I need to take the entire AID folder or just the installer and manual? Cause there are like 23 additional .rar files that I don't want to take the time to transfer if I don't need them?
Anything else I need?
