So I just soft modded for the first time and it seemed to be sucessful however now that I want to put in a large HD I need my original eeprom from the drive I used when I soft modded. Problem, I never backed it up. Am I screwed or is there a way for me to still pull this off? PS: I do have a back up eeprom from a different HD but it didnt work when I used the guide on upgrading to a larger HD. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

ok if you used sid 4.5 to do the softmod then the eeprom.bin is there look inside E/udata/2145 arrgh man lol so many months well its in that path someone in the udata so to acess it if you have unleash x use the file explore if you have evox then you must ftp to find the eeprom.bin .
i dont know if 4.5 has a fake eeprom but sid 4 did if this is the case DO NOT grab the eeprom.bin if you find it in E/eeprom it has to be E/udata/ ? someting/ backup/eeprom is here _________________ |FTP|Useful Links| softmod vs hardmod questions

Thanks, I found it. . . Now I have the correct eeprom but my backups of the C and E drive are from after I soft modded it. Does anyone know if this is ok before I mess up my new HD. Also is it possible to just stick the hard drive in a soft modded xbox and use AID to do all the work? Thanks.

was it under the E/udata folder or right away on the E/eeprom? and you want to put a brand new clean ms dash ( under my sig) it has to be extracted what tut are you using? and E is not required so just put eeprom.bin on eeprom folder on xboxhdm1.9 ms dash ( no folders just the contents) on the C folder and your set no E is required _________________ |FTP|Useful Links| softmod vs hardmod questions

yes under e/udata..I recall making a fresh copy of MS when I was using Softmod installer Delux 4.5 N-Knave Edition. This is also the tut I am using for hard drive upgrade using a PC, I asw it on here somewhere as well. Also, do I have to lock the HD like the tut says?

lol yes thats why you went for the trouble of the eeprom.bin if not locked you'll run into error code 5 , that doesnt mean its broken its just needs to re lock and yeah that means you need a lockable hard drive fellow instructions and you'll be fine . if you can provide me with the tut link i'd apriciate it _________________ |FTP|Useful Links| softmod vs hardmod questions

No, I locked it but I wanted to know in case I goofed again if I can re use the hard drive instead of being stuck with another paper weight once its locked.
Attached is the complete tut. u will have to scroll way down for the HD upgrade part of it. Im thinking they suggest to copy E folder because thats where my backup of the original MS was stored.
Have you had success unlocking a purchased HD after Modding it before, if so what did you use, thanks.

yup, u can use the same program( ia ssume your using XHDM 1.9) to unlock the drive, as long as you have the eeprom.
If you loose the eeprom, u can use a program called HDD Unlock Wizard, nt sure where to get this but if you do ever need it just google it. _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

you dont need the original ms dash as a ms dash can always be used , however you need your eeprom.bin thats the most important part . and yes its unlockable /re lockable as long as you have the eeprom and since this eeprom came from your xbox your ok _________________ |FTP|Useful Links| softmod vs hardmod questions
