If you are all wondering how is this? Well its actually simple... I used a 36.7gb WD raptor and it worked. Anyway heres how to do this, first you need these things:
OK! First off, here is what i did:
1. I followed Textbook's guide without backing up my eeprom (risky yes but i didn't know how to get my eeprom)
2. Then i installed evox from the softmod and then backed up my eeprom and ftp'ed it to my computer.
3. I made the Ndure CD including my eeprom and that was done.
1. Format your SATA hard drive completely.
2. Attach the ide cable to the chip (BE CAREFUL IT'S KIND OF FRAGILE)
*Note* If your ide cable has a little plastic square in the middle of it then that part should be pointing away from the power connecter on the chip
3. Attach the floppy disk power cable to the chip
4. Attach the chip to your SATA hard drive.
5. Load up the Ndure CD (must have eeprom!) Load #1 option and it might stop at a usb message... well it did for me so i just typed xboxhd and it will come up with choices and you choose #1 and then you follow through and then softmod it with ndure (Textbook's guide)
6. After the softmod is complete you lock up your hard drive (since i put the eeprom on my cd i just typed lockhd -a)
7. Power down and unhook cables.
8. Take out stock xbox hard drive
9. Use the power cable that you bought or have with the floppy power connector and you can just connect it straight from the hard drive power cable.
10. Connect your IDE cable to the chip.
11. Connect the floopy disk power cable to the chip
12. Put the chip into your SATA drive
13. Close up xbox and run!
YAY! This worked for me, i used a WD raptor drive AND IT WAS SICK! Halo 2 loaded up fast. It loaded the menu after 1 second of the blue germ/bungie logo video. Loads a map without the cache in like 10 seconds. Halo 2 rip time : 15 mins. 40 seconds. Topped KB/s 5k
I didn't see a guide like this and i will update it later. Just helping out if there isn't a thing like this l8erz gotta reinstall window$.
