I have an older x-box, not sure of the mod type or anything, just know the hdd was manufactured in 2001... I was playing it fine a couple days ago, and then I went to turn it on, and it showed the normal animation, then the logo, and then it just flashed on the screen and went back to the logo and has been looping like that for a while. There was no error messages of any kind, and it shows start up animation fine the first time and not again. Also, it couldn't get to the menu. Could it possibly be broken hdd? Also, it has linux on it. I was wondering what the problem could be, cause I really want to play Halo...

The only thing I could think of is the original dashboard might be corrupted in a way that causes the loop effect. I would suggest reflashing the bios and reloading the original stock dashboard. Note: but this is based on the fact that the hdd isn’t broke...but I would think that if it were broke that there would be a maintenance message.

ummmm..... not totally sure but the hd isn't broken, i left it on for 4 hours and it went to the menu and i can see all my games i played, but it only plays games 1 in 10 times and that kinda sux, but at least it works now. i guess
