Others can correct me if I'm wrong; but if you launch your DVD through DVDX2 or whatever it's called, it doesn't care about region. If you're worried about games; launch them through XBMC. Once a box is modded; it makes it region free for the most part. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Yes that works but what i wanted to do was to change the actual DVD region back to 1

Do you know how it got changed in the first place? go to your MSDashboard and check the settings tab. I think you can change the region on any DVD player up to five times... If that doesn't work; I think you're gonna need to get a new DVD drive (or at least new DVD Control board) to switch it back. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

It was changed to region 2 because the previous owner had the region 2 MS dvd remote and it had changed it to that region. From MS they had in their KB that the xbox had to be sent back to them for repairs and that didnt appeal to me.

Do you have a region 1 dvd kit? if not, check the MSdash like I said... other than that, try a different DVD Drive, see if that doesn't help. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

Thanks for the msdash idea and i think i got it back to region 1 now.
heres what i did
i tryed using config magic to load the eeprom and edit'd it back to region 1 by unlocking the hdd and relocking it with the new eeprom. that seemed to work or so i thought. rebooted and it was back to region 2. so then i tryed to unmod it, with the msdash thats on the AID disk, but before i complete the unmod by rebooting i use config magic again to edit the eeprom again then finally rebooted and remod it again. that had fix the region back to 1
