This is a bit of a sad story... My friend passed away and his mom gave me his original Xbox (or should I say she asked me to remove it) and I have never been much of a gamer and now want to give it a try.
On start up it goes to the Xbox logo then reboots without an error message and loops back to the Xbox logo and reboots again etc etc After reviewing the forums I can not find a similer problem.
I am sure this Xbox has been modded (the labels are removed) but not exactly sure how or which mod. When I picked up the Xbox it had a LAN cable from the Xbox to his router, if that helps???
We have tried 3 different game disks but it keeps Looping. Are you supposed to hold a controller key down while it boots up or is there some other trick to operating a modded box? Or could it be only modded for live? We have tried plugging it in to our router but it still Loops.
None of my other immediate friends are gamers so I have come here for HELP! Thanks for reading this far, I'll check back... Hoping for some modding secrets and magic to get into Xboxing. Cheers. RDee

Sorry I took so long to get back... there is NO ERROR message or 2 digit number. After the microsoft name appears below the Xbox logo, the screen blinks on with a circle on the right, then another smaller circle in the middle then in a milisecond flashes back to the Xbox logo and the cycle repeats itself, never long enough to display an error code.

Is there a way to pause the display at various stages in this loop to see if there was an error code displayed? RDee

OK, I have found out that this is an XBOX V 1.0 with the oldest disk reader and the one with the most problems, but I would not know what to look for once the box is open... how can I tell if it has a mod chip? (I'm sure he had one installed)
Please note we did get it running (by accident), we left it looping for about 40 minutes while playing on our PC computer and bingo, a menu came up and we were able to give it a go but since then we seem to have to go through this warm up or multiple loops before it performs as expected.
Let me know about the signs for a mod chip and if there is anything to avoid these long loop sessions before we get to game.
Sorry about the long gaps between replys... life is like that sometimes.
Thanks

that would be the clock loop, this can happen after leaving your xbox unplugged for a certain amount of time, depending on how it was modded of course. Thats all i did was leave it running and soon or later bam the clock/date thing came up to set it. _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial
