I have a xbox with all my music loaded on it, which is played through xbmc. It is hooked up through my head unit, but when the volume is increased it starts to crack BAD. I dont mean from being too loud and speakers cracking, I mean it just cracks and its not even loud. I have an Ipod hooked up the exact same way, and if i pull one of the rca audio plugs out(either right or left) it does the exact same thing. I though it might have been speaker interference at first, but then i tried it with the xbox outside the car, still same problem. I tried the original cables, and my advanced av pack, same problem with both. The problem shows up when the volume is increased on either the head unit or the xbox.
I also thought it might have been feedback coming from my screen, but i completely disconnected that, and still have the same problem.
I brought the xbox back inside the house and i can crank the volume up as loud as i want and there is no distortion or cracking. The problem only shows up in the car, and just with the xbox, not an ipod or laptop. Any ideas of what the problem could be? I have yet to try running the xbox off my power inverter, this was directly out of a wall socket.

The issue may be a volume issue, turn the volume on the XBMC down even a little(10 DB or so) and it should correct the issue _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

ive tried turning the volume down to almost nothing in xbmc, as soon as the speaker volume reaches about the same point, it starts to crack again. I tried a different head unit today, and it still does the same thing. Weird thing though, it occurs more in higher pitched sounds, like claps or snare drums. Im going to try a different xbox tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. This is driving me nuts seeing that i bought everything specifically to have all my music in the car on the xbox hard drive.
And on another note, staples has 200 gig hard drives on sale for $20 tomorrow after a $50 mail in rebate. I didnt see anything about 1 per household either. Its hard to beat 10 cents per gig.

well I figured it out, I think. When installing the screen I tapped into the cigarette lighter positive and ground wires since they were the closest I could find(didnt want to use the head units power and ground because I thought it would cause interference) Instead of running a direct ground to the chassis I tapped into the lighters ground also, big mistake. As soon as i ran a direct chassis ground everything worked perfect, but im keeping my fingers crossed that it doesnt come back.
This also eliminated the small amount of engine noise i was recieving on the headunit since installing the monitor
One other crazy thing that i do not understand, when i had everything disconnected except the positive power wire THE MONITOR STILL TURNED ON. There was no video except the bright blue screen since the video cable was disconnected. The monitor has a plastic mount, so i really dont understand how that is possible.

That would means it was still connected, check you wireing and check the instructions. _________________
