I purchased the X-Chip and it came with the cromwell bios. After several failed attempts to install a new dahboard, I got the auto installer from xbox-hq. The loader ran like clock work very smooth and it was very easy to use, but I still can not connect to my xbox via SmartFTP or FlashFxp - "connection timed out". I am using a linksys router and these are the settings of my PC:

IP address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 167.206.3.217
167.206.3.157
167.206.3.218

I tried changing the Xbox to DHCP did not work. Tried changing the ip address to 192.168.1.101 did not work.
Also when I try to run the old xbox dashboard it says my xbox needs to be serviced please contact technical support.
If anyone can help me with either of these problems, I would extremely appreciate it.

You need to flash your chip with a hacked bios.

I suggest Xecuter2 4983.67 that is in our VIP Download Section.

Once you do that, you will be able to install Evox Dash from our autoinstaller.

After you get that far, let me know and I'll help with more. I am in bios hell too with the M8!!

Also, your xbox IP should be 192.168.1.200

Catch you later man, and welcome to the site. Glad to see you aboard.

ok.. It sounds like your bios is flashed if you BOOTED the XBOXHQ AUTO INSTALLER.. So lets go.

We need to first find out what your pc NETWORK SETTINGS are..
Read this tutorial and it will walk you through the process.
Its very simple.

Setup PC (ip address) for FLASHFXP transfer to xbox:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-85.html

once you know what your pc ip address is then you can give your xbox a STATIC IP ADDRESS in the same range. Thats all you are doing wrong.

l8r and talk soon

I tried to change my PC ip address without success. Can anyone help with the regular xbox dashboard not working either. It says my "xbox needs to be serviced".

Where did you try to make your changes? Do you now have Evolution X installed?

What error code are you getting in the upper corner when it says your xbox needs services.

What version Xbox do you have?

Where did you try to make your changes?

I tried to change my ip address of my PC to match that of evolution X's. When I changed the PC address it still would not connect.

I also tried to change the evox settings under "system utils" -> "settings" to match my PC and it still did not work.

Am I supposed to copy all information from my PC's address?
Example:
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 167.206.3.217
167.206.3.157
167.206.3.218

or just the IP - cause just the IP is not working!

Do you now have Evolution X installed?

Yes!!

What error code are you getting in the upper corner when it says your xbox needs services?

No error code it just says the xbox needs to be serviced in 5 - 6 different languages.

What version Xbox do you have?

I do not know.

hi mate,

How are you connected to the XBOX..?

Choose one and let me know what your config is:
1. XBOX --> PC (directly connected via network cable)
2. XBOX -->HUB/ROUTER/SWITCH --> PC (through other devices)

If you PC NETWORK SETTINGS ARE STILL THE SAME:
IP address: 192.168.1.100
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 167.206.3.217
167.206.3.157
167.206.3.218

Give your xbox a ip settings of:
IP address: 192.168.1.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DHCP Server: 192.168.1.1
DNS Servers: 167.206.3.217
167.206.3.157
167.206.3.218

Now scroll down to the bottom of where you just entered your xbox ip settings until you see 'SAVE & EXIT'.. You must SAVE and exit before you xbox will save your settings.. Smile

Once it has saved reboot your xbox and make sure you ip address is as the settings above show..

Get back to us mate.. Im sure its something really small your forgeting to do.

Ok.. Normally when your get a error on your NORMAL M$ Dashboard (retail) you probably have forgotten to lock your HDD.. You can see if its locked from within the 'system settings' menu in EVOX.

If your XBOX HDD IS LOCKED and you are still getting this error then you have some files missing.. You could use the XBOX HQ AUTO INSTALLER to reinstall the RETAIL M$ Dashboard for you.. Just choose which version of the NORMAL RETAILS M$ DASHBOARD you want to install and it will do it all for you..

anyway, hope we can sort you out really soon mate.

cheers
