So I just modded my xbox yesterday with a virgin HD and need to install a bios before I can boot to AID. is it possible to extract one of the bin files from the AID.iso file? if so, which one would be best for a version 1.6 xbox with an xecuter 3 CE chip and a 400GB HD? if not, is #xbins the best place to get a bios or is there a better place? thanks for all the help!

Do you have the AID files on your PC? If so, simply navigate to Auto.Installer.Deluxe.v3.0.Xbox-Hq\aid30\Auto.Installer.Deluxe.v3.0.Xbox-Hq\BIOS\1mb on your PC, and select the x3.3294.v16plus.bin bios image.
Also, if you can connect your xbox to pc via network cable, this is the easiest way to flash. Simply use a crossover cable, power up the xbox, and enter
the IP shown in the FlashBios screen into your web browser.
If you can't, have a read here about how to flash your X3. _________________

Also, if you don't have the AID 3 files, the Xecuter 3 bios files can be found in our VIP downloads, and VIP servers.
but yes, you should find it on xbins.
I highly recommend the X3 3294 bios, as it is easy to use, and jam packed full of features _________________

ha! I'm so dumb! yes I have all the files and didn't even think to look in there. thanks for the bios recommendation. will do with the flashing. last question - after I install the bios, will the xbox boot to the AID disc or do I need to install a dash first? I feel like there are a few steps that I am missing between "put all the hardware together" and "boot to AID disc to format virgin HD". the guide skipped over it really quickly. I've been reading through this forum for a while now and can't find anything about installing a mod chip and brand new HD at the same time. do I need to do anything to the HD before I format it? doesn't seem logical, but you never know. I'll keep reading. thanks!

Yeah, once you have flashed your chip, your xbox will boot to the AID disc.
AID will autodetect the new HDD, and format it for you. Once this is done, you can install all the goodies (dashes, apps, emulators etc.)
