Hi,
i modded my xbox about 2 1/2 years ago.
i fitted an Executer 2 chip, pre flashed on my laptop with hacked bios (cant remember which one), then changed the hard drive for a 160 gig, also changed the ide lead for a 80pin (i think), then put the software on .
i use unleash x, i find it easy and you can cut and paste the password sub routine so the kids cant access the settings ! 9thats why its lasted this long).
i now have about 40 games on it, a few films and some of my photos.
My question is its 2 1/2 years later... so whats new?, the latest breakthrough? what can i make it do now that i couldnt before?
really im looking to update it. do i need to?
any info appreciated.

Since you are chipped, the only thing I could see is the latest build of XBMC. Browse through the plethora of scripts written for it. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

You may also want to update your DVD2XBOX since the newer versions are very stable, as well as updated emulators.
One program that I personally think is a great achievement is Mimesis.
All of these, as well as the latest version of XBMC that dangermouse mentioned are available for install from AID3.10 _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide
no ones been able to write the software so you can change the dvd drive for a dvd burner to enable back-up from the hdd, instead of ftp?

Not that I'm aware. You could probably do it in linux though, even through a USB one. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

I have often wondered the same thing myself. Like a dvd2xbox, with a burn game dvd option as well. Anyone know a reason why its not happened/possible? _________________

Dunno if I would trust burning a DVD with only 64 megs of ram, may not turn out so well. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

On a xbox v1.0-1.5 the RAM can only be upgraded to 128 MB provided your soldering skills are excellent. Even then that might not be enough to efficiently burn disks. It's not recommended.

the xboxes cpu doesnt have enough even with the added memory to even burn disks, and it dont matter how fast a burner is, its whats behind it. Ive seen old computer struggle with fast burners.
Its just not gonna happen with a xbox, It would take over a day to even burn a disk at least if you managed to get it to burn, and the ram upgrade only works with certain things.
My aunts computer has a 733 Mhz processor in her pc, it takes about 6 hours just to burn a cd-r and thats a pc with more memory than the xbox. You see what im getting at now. _________________
