Hello everyone. As they say, "the first step to recovery is admitting". So here goes, "I'm a newbie.".
Anyways... I am actually rather new to owning an Xbox too. I bought it for the soul reason of playing Forza, maybe other games later. So I got it home and played. I love it. Then the upgrade bug hit immediately. So I went online and reached the major mod chips a bit and came to the Xecutor3ce.
So I ordered this with the solderless adaptor for version 1-1.5.
It's on its way.
My question is... What do I do once I get the chip in? I understand I need to flash the BIOS. But what else?
I've read about the Slayer EVO-x auto installer.
Is this the only one? What other options are there?
Also, i'll be upgrading the harddrive. I understand I have to use the software to backup the original HDs files and then transfer them to the computer via FTP. Then I install the HD and use the BIOS to format it, correct?
My question about this is, What is the largest hard drive I can use? I've heard the limit is like 130GB, but is this per partion, or overall?
Thanks for the help

Ok, imma tell you this, you chose the right chip. It even has a formatt option in the menu for HDDs, and then all you have to do is get an auto installer(XBOX-HQ Auto-Installer Deluxe) then install what ever dashboard you wanna use(i prefer Xbox Media Center or UnleashX)now your ready HAHAHA _________________ Hotswap Tutorial|FTP Tutorial|HyperX Flashing Tutorial

Ok, so that installer and the new harddrive is all I really need then.
Did I get the copying of the Xbox files part right?
IIRC there is an option in the Xecutor 3's bios to backup the files isn't there?

Ok, can I get a step by step process.
You don't have to explain the steps.
Like this would be step one and three
1: Install mod chip
2
3: Download AID and burn iso to disk.
What else is needed, and do I need to flash the chip?
HDD Tools will allow me to backup all the files so that I can lock the new HD to allow me to go on Live(with chip bypassed), correct?

I'll attach some images so you can see what you expect.
Yes, you'll have to flash your bios first. The only bios you ever want to flash(well, at least the first bios) is the X3 3294. It is most feature laden bios I've seen yet, though I don't have much experience with xeniums.
The easiest way will be to do a network flash.
Once you have 3294 flashed power on the xbox and it should pop into the X3 config live screen. If it does, great, you'll want to specify your disk size(see below). Then power down and insert your new drive. Power back on and pop in AID. AID should boot right up, and ask if you want to format the disk. Just choose yes to all the options, then install your dashboard to the root of F or G. then install apps, emulators, etc.
Remove the AID disk and power down again. Again, once in the X3 config live menu specify where you want to boot from (see below) and disable the config live(see below). reboot one last time and it should boot into your dash.

Well, I installed the mod chip today.
Unfortunately I wasn't able to use the Xapter!
When I opened up the case(first time) I went through the check on xbox-scene and found that I have a 1.6 version.
So, I figured I'd just try the solder install.
Well, everything was VERY easy.
The LPC rebuild makes the D0 point a breeze. I didn't followed the guide exactly. I put the rebuild kit and the pins on at the same time. It just made more sense to do it that way.
Now to the question: My xbox turns on and boots up just fine. The problem is that it is booting to the MS dash! The switch that comes with the kit is currently red. Meaning the chip is disabled.
What could be wrong? Do I have to have the DIP switches set a certain way?
Note: I just took the drives back out and powered up the XBOX. The blue lights on the chip are on.

On the rebuild kit, which contact is the D0 point?
The only one that is labeled as the D0 is the "large" soldering pad.
Which point on the rebuild kit does this actually connect to? I know the connection to the large D0 pad is fine.
*edit* Hang on. Do I have to connect a seperate wire to a point on the motherboard for the D0. Or is that incorporated in the LPC rebuild?

LOL, I forgot to do one of the contacts on the rebuild kit. It's smaller then the rest.

Now I have a new problem.
I soldered that last point.
Now only one blue LED comes on, and the switch on the front isn't showing any color.
It boots to the MS dash
