ok rite now i have error 16 can any 1 help me no mod chip on stok box and thing i can do been reading adn reseraching and dont know what to do

Well, error code 16 is dashboard specific. It sounds as though your dashboard files on your Hard Drive have become corrupt.
That would be my first and best guess.
The solution is you can either pick up a new retail HD from someone, or mod your machine.

ok i have another drive what now no cd-r will boot im burning a cdrw now to try i'm getting mod chip in mail aladdin and an 80g hard drive anything i can do rite now with a 20g and no mod chip

No. Firstly, without a modchip you would need someone who had the exact same xbox version as you and clone their HD. I have a couple HD's laying around that are for sale on my website. I have a 1.1 version, a 1.4, and two 1.6's. They still have the stock Xbox files intact and are locked like they just came from the factory. A few of them are brand new, the 1.1 is used and probably still has gamesaves on it, but it at least works.
Unless someone has any other ideas, I think you are stuck waiting for the chip.
Are you sure nobody tried to softmod it?? Hoping that you don't have underlying issues with the TSOP/bios pointing.
Eitherway, the modchip will bail you out.
