Hi everyone, I've searched for the past couple of hours and can't find a definate answer anywhere so sorry if this has already been covered.
For the past year i've had a Crystal Xbox 1.6 modded with the Spiderchip 1.1. My only use for the console is to play emulators that i've already got on DVD.
However, I'm tired of moving the console around and finding one of the legs from the chip has come loose, having to re-open etc is a pain in the ass.
Now it's my understanding that the v1.6 can't be TSOP'd so i'm looking to softmod it instead and remove the Spiderchip completely. I'm never gonna be using it on Live so thats not a problem.
Can anyone please explain/guide me on how to softmod an already modded xbox 1.6?? After it's softmodded i'l be removing the spiderchip completly.
Thanks in advance,
Bob

You should get AID 3.10, it comes with a manual and in it, it decribes how to softmod with a modchip. _________________

Hi hellblazer55, Thanks for the reply. I downloaded Autoinstaller 3.10 however the .pdf only mentions how to install the Dashboards etc to an already modded machine, rather than softmod the actual xbox.
I've read a lot of your other posts and you seem quite faithful to Autoinstaller so I took the plunge and tried it anyway.
The Softmod process went fine however after it was installed and requested a reboot my machine (v1.6) booted the initial xbox screen before bricking. Even disabling the spiderchip made no difference so I opened her up, removed the spiderchip and low behold it came up with the second installer screen.
As of now it's fully functional and EXACTLY how I want it. Great stuff.
So if anyone else has a no-solder chip that comes loose often the above is safe to do!! Just remove the chip when the Softmod Install states it requires a reboot.
