I have SID 4.5 N-Knave installed with Dual Boot Open=Retail so I can play Live. I have read the manual but was a little confussed. Please help me understand. I have not completed Chapter 9: Virtual Eeprom Patching as of yet and figure this is a must if I want to play Live and not get banned.
I do not understand this portion (portions confussing are pink and my thoughts are black text):
Quote:
First you must have an nkpatcher *.xbe loaded that will not mount the virtual, this *.xbe can easily be the one you booted SID 4.5 and it’s how this tutorial will show it to you. What do they mean by and xbe that does not mount the virtual?
1. - Cold boot game of Choice or use a file manager to navigate to save.
2. - If you boot SID 4.5 from game of exploit, simply fix your Network Settings to a proper way to access your Xbox from ftp.If your going to use a file manager, the file to be executed is NOT menu.xbe, you’ll execute “install.xbe”, this file is nkpatcher 11-01 with no virtual mounts. Directory for manual boot is: E:\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\Are they wanting me to run/boot something here?
3. - you’ll get the eeprom.bin found in C:\ from your real partition, to know if it’s your real partition, you should be able to see the following files (not all files or folders are mentioned here.
\Audio
\SID4
\fonts
\xboxdashdata.185ead00
\xodash
\msdash.xbe
\shadowc.img <<<< if you see this, you’ll know it’s your real C partition.
\Xbox Book.xtf
\Xbox.xtf
\xboxdash.xbe
\eeprom.bin <<<<< this is the dump file you’ll ftp to computer to make your changes.
I have found the eeprom.bin located in E\UDATA\21585554\000000000000\backup and I do have the LiveInfo program open. I understand I have to load the eeprom.bin and then change the Serial Number, Online Key and Unique HDD Key to all zeros then save as a .bin
But the next portion of the instructions confuses me too:
Quote:
Make sure that you ftp the modified file named eeprom.bin to overwrite the old file in C:\, after you have completed this, simply turn off Xbox, and power back on, most apps/dashes including ConfigMagic will display your unlock key, but when it’s time to call the eeprom to unlock is when it will fail. To see if your changes are in fact active, please use ConfigMagic, and see what you get onscreen, UnleashX and other dashes will always display the correct unlock key in the settings or info screen.
There is not an eeprom.bin in C:\ of my xbox and do I need to use ConfigMagic to check if my changes are active?
I know this is a long question but I DO really appreciate all of the help you provide. _________________ Regards,

the first thing is the eeprom you find in e/backup folder is a fake one, which means if you happen to wipe the harddrive your fubared, and that eeprom will not unlock the harddrive. The one you found in Udata is the correct eeprom.
Now depending if your xbox has been on XBL before the harddrive upgrade you would have to change the eeprom, but if it hasnt been on xbl and you want to go on and upgrade the hdd, wait until harddrive upgrade is done before doing so, That is if your xbox is a XBL Virgin.
Now do you plan on upgradding the HDD? Has your xbox been on XBL? _________________

My Xbox has been on Live maybe 4 months ago before I softmodded it, so I already have a gamertag and all. I do not think I will be upgrading my HDD anytime soon because I am too new to this.
Hellblazer55, I did read and research I swear! _________________ Regards,

I know you did your research, I know some things that most people will not understand anyways. well since youve got dual boot, and have xbl set up on your xbox already, you should be good to go.
Thats for more of a problem when your xbox gets screwed up, its a recovery method. _________________

Thanks. So where do I put my eeprom.bin file now that I have edited it? And one more question. How do I get to the SID 4.5 N-Knave menu again? _________________ Regards,

dont worry about the edited bin, just keep your original, and to get your softmod menu you can boot it though the game save in udata or use the game you used to mod it with. _________________
