Ok I have read the posts that I can find and am unsure of 1 thing. I have a modded box with a Xecuter 2.6 ce and a huge hard drive. My mod chip is switchable and I actually own the retail game disk. Can I boot up with the chip off and can I log on to Xbox Live with the chip in the off position and play without getting banned due to my large hard drive.
I am sorry if this has been covered but I am unsure of the hard drive issue alone getting me banned.

If you have the stock msdash on C: and you've never been on live with the retail drive, then yes, your fine.

To further explain, the first time you hop on live with an Xbox, it records the EEPROM and the Hard drive serial number of that xbox. This has nothing to do with your screen name, just the xbox only. Now, if you play on Live for a while, and decide that you want to upgrade, you're screwed. You WILL be banned.

Why?

After you upgrade the Hard drive, XBL will notice that the EEPROM doesn't match that HDD serial from when you first signed in on that xbox. PWN! you're banned and need a new EEPROM, AND a new HDD since the new HDD serial has just been recorded and now noted for ban.

So, if you were never on live before you got the mod, and your C drive looks like this:

Then you're fine. If it doesn't and has extra files, you might want to use AID to format the C drive and install MSDash 5960 to make sure everything's peachy keen.
