How do you clone hard drives? Can you ftp an entire drive + programs from one xbox to another xbox with a blank drive of the same size in it. I'm no computer guru, so please try not to speak in terms I understand. I've read about how to make a clone with a norton disc in the tutorial section, but I was just wondering if I could clone an entire drive through ftping from an xbox with everything installed to a blank drived xbox. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I currently have a drive with avalanch and all my programs installed including an ftp section. All I want to do is transfer it exactly to another drive.
thanks

So you want me to speak in confusing terms?? HA. Wink

I knew what you meant, was just jagging you.

There are ways to take care of what you want to do. If you are currently set up to FTP with your xbox, then you can FTP all of your contents over to your PC as long as your PC has the memory of course.

Then, you can format the new HD and get your Networking prefs set so you can just FTP everything over. Now, certain chips like the Xenium also offer a HD swap feature too. I don't know what chip you have, so I won't go in depth with it but it is possible to hook your brand new HD to your existing xbox HD while it's still in your xbox. There are jumper settings on the HD in which you could set it as a "Slave" HD and then just allow the chip to xfer the entire structure over to it, then change the jumper back to Master before removing the old HD and installing the new.

Do keep in mind, if you are going to a HD that is much larger you probably won't want to do that as you will want to format it so you can get the G drive as smaller HD's only go up to F.

So as you can see there are methods available. If you have any more specifc questions to what I have just posted feel free to ask.

later man

well... if you just want to move all the info from one xbox to the other, you can always use Ftp client, it's an app for your xbox that lets you ftp other xboxes from your xbox. then you can transfer everything or just some things... like you can with a pc. just another option.

Basically all i would do is:

1. Make sure the xbox hdd you want to copyto is formatted and ready to accept data.. The then just load a application on both machines and transfer from one to the other.. Its pretty simple..
I would use the old AVA LAUNCH METHOD.. Smile

I will have a hunt through our tutorials and other news releases trying to find the links you need.. Anyway, revolver944's answer was perfect.

Thats my exact suggestions..

here a link that will interest you:

Transferring files from Xbox to Xbox:

Hey, revolver944 do we have that 'Ftp client' available to download? Do you have a copy.. Ive never had to bother with it.. I know you can do it with EVOX, AVALAUNCH and a xbox file explorer program for sure but dont know of a program specifically written for it

l8r all

Yeah forahobby, you're right. And I even did it with Avalaunch once...man, I forgot all about that. I do remember though it was all screwy the way mine was set up. I remember having to do everything the opposite of the tutorial that I was using. Was strange.

I'll look through my tuts and see if it's worthy.

Later mate!
