Post subject: DVD-R Backup Question--THE LAG
Reply with quote

For those of you who have "extensive experience" with backups on DVD-R, do you notice a larger amount of "lag" while playing the game compared to an original, whether loading or actual gameplay? It's almost as if slightly (just a little) slower than an original. If so, is there a way to fix this? Thanks for your opinions.

well i never have had that problem, what are you using to make the backups on the pc end, and on the xbox end? dvd2xbox should reorganize the folders and files for the best loading speeds

Yes, dvd2xbox, and the iso's are burned on HP Lightscribe disks. Does the disk affect the speed at which the XBOX drive reads the information? The lag isn't very noticable--except when in memory-intensive moments--and not noticable to the average person. OF course, I'm not the average person Razz The games are playable, they just seem slower...I don't know, just my thoughts on life.

How do you get rid of the extra space on a DVD if the data is less than the disc capacity? How do you fill it in?

make a dummy file of the file size and place it in the root of the game before you make the iso
