Ok first off Ive been agianst softmodding for this reason. Ive chipped 50+ xboxes with out many problems (1.6 rebuild can be a bitch sometimes lol) But I desided that I should atleast do 1 soft modd to see how it works. I dont have any off the cheats ( action replay, ect.) so i thought i would just slap a mod chip in the xbox , and put the soft mod on the hard drive that way. well all seemed to go well I used the 3.0 auto installer to do it and did the dual boot =retail option. with the xvo dash
I then turned the xbox off removed the chip and booteded it up. It came up with the srceen saying that i needed to push a for the softmod to finsh somthing or other and then it booted the aid 3.0 disk up just fine. I then took the disk out and it went to the ms dash asking to have the time set. well i just hit a (lol i hate seting the date and time) and it stayed at the ms dash. so i fig i needed to install evo dash so i put aud back in and installed evo on c drive(ment to put it on E) so i installed also to e and then did a restore of c drive. now i can boot to evo using the power button but the dvd button just goes to a black srceen after the ms logo? ive tried restoring a few times with the same results? I also used xboxexploreer to check out the files and I dont have the msdash xbe in c or my back up just xboxdash and some of the other files... How can i get the ms dash back up? ive tried to install msdash from aid but still no go?

im guessing that the problem was from you installed your mod (evoX) into the E drive instead of C drive in a retail harddrive.

try this, if you can ftp you xbox try to get your eeprom
then download this http://freakyhosting.be/ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar
and throw your eeprom into the folder that says eeprom
make-iso-win, burn the iso, and boot that with the retail hd as if you just bought a brand new hard drive for you "computer"

remember to unlock the hd using the iso cd (option 3 and then unlockhd -a) before installing it (option 1 and then xboxhdm then 1)

let me know if that works

did you install the mod-chip that was in your xbox your self? or did someone else do it for your? from what i recall install a mod-chip into an xbox requires you to cut 1 or 2 of the circuits in the xbox motherboard. this may also cause the xbox to not boot dash board correctly after you remove a mod-chip

and another thing, when u loaded AID and install evox dash board, did you select install Softmod Installer Deluxe before you installed the dashboard? because if you didnt, that could also be the problem

Yes I did the mod chip myself as i have many times , and its not the problem as Ive removed the soft mod and the ms dash boots up fine. also yes I installed the softmod first / kinda, it installs evox dash as it installs the softmod. from aid 3.0 I choose install softmod - install sid 4.5 - dual boot mod/ disk eject=retail- then evox as mod dash.
then it shuts down the xbox and at bootup it goes to unlesh screen saying that it needs to do some stuff to finsh installing mod and to push a to finsh. after that evox dash loads. then I turn it off try to boot with eject button as after the xbox logo it goes to black screen.......... Ive removed the softmod 4 or five times now (completely wipeing the drive and starting from sratch)
I am able to load ms dash through evox now though, but to get it to I had to copy the xboxdash_xbe file from c drive and rename it msdash_xbe and place it on c drive with the xboxdash_xbe.
Now atleast I can access ms dash without having to leave the xbox unpluged for a few hrs. but it still not booting it with the eject button like its supposed to.
I have even tried installing the soft mod with single boot insteed of dual boot, and still only boots to dash with power button and not eject?????????? eject button will boot to dash without the softmod on the xbox so it is a software problem not hardware.. Any more ideas???? Id really like to get this to work right.

so you've tried using, ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar to remake the harddrive and threw it back into your xbox WITHOUT the mod-chip in it right? cause it sounds like you left your mod-chip still installed in the xbox after you used xboxhdm. if so, take your hdd back out do use xboxhdm with ms-c-hosted-by-pirrup.rar again and this time use SID 2.0 instead of 3.0 from my experiences 2.0 is much more stable then 3.0 and then you can install everything else using AID
