My brother recently dropped the xbox while moving it into the living room and broke a couple of solder points for the modchip wires.
So i was wondering which chip i have.
Its a ESS chipset, i believe its was one of the original first modchips out. Kinda small as well. Brown.
I just need to solder 2 wires back on but im unsure of where they go.
I've googled but had no luck.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

If you can, please post a picture of it (even if it's from a camera phone) that will definitely help us identify it quickly. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

I'll now confirm its a SST chipset on the modchip.
The original owner of this box told me it was one of the first chips out.
ANyone have any idea at all?

Who cares about the type of chip just solder the wires back on??? also there is no way we can tell you the type unless you input a pick in your post. You just need to solder the DO point and the DT point(no 100% sure about the name) where are the wires off of the chip itself or the box?? Just put all the pic files in your next post with one of the chip and one of the box with the wires in question _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!

Did a brief google search on the SST Xbox Modchip. Returned back that it looks like it's some kind of old homebrew/TSOP chip. Which is going to make it all the harder for us to help. I will redirect Forahobby to this post to see if he can help you.

I'm sure he would have done that if he knew what his chip was and where the wires went. The chips I've seen (especially the old ones) don't have their wires labled, and the Xbox board isn't exactly novice "solder here" friendly. _________________ "That which does not kill you, only makes you stronger."

I just was thinking it would have old solder at the points it broke off and heck if he is luckly there will still alot there so he would just need to reheat the old solder and place the wires on it.....easy fix _________________ The mighty V6 Passat came to chew bubble gum and kick%^* and shes all out of bubble gum!
